How much should I pay for a dreamcast?

Post by philipofmacedon »

Hey guys,

I wanted some opinions on how much is reasonable to pay for a good condition Dreamcast. The seller claims he only used it a few times. It has two controllers and comes with Toy Commander, Sonic Adventure, Space Channel 5, Chu Chu Rocket, Crazy Taxi, and a Greatest Arcade Hits Volume 2. The add doesn't mention if he includes any Vmus. He's asking 30 bucks.

I'm contacting him to find out if this is a model 1.

wherever I have shopped at wethere it be online or not 30 bucks for a dreamcast seems to be the base price. Just look at ebay or amazon and do price comparisons that way. this way you should get an idea on how much you are losing or gaining in the deal. Always check around for price. Always.

Hmm, sounds good. I paid about 20 for mine, and got 4 controllers 4 VMUs and NFL2k, but that was kinda lucky. Ah dreamcast...what a console, love that it can play burned CDRs without a chip.

Well tonight I went and bought that Dreamcast. It had some gunk on the outside of it but it seems to run fine. It didn't have any VMUs but both controllers were originals and in good shape. Also it was a model 1. I haven't burned any games yet but I don't foresee any difficulty. Also I was able to test my VGA box from Racketboy, although only with composite cables, but it seems to work fine.

I had a blast playing Crazy Taxi and Chu Chu Rocket.

I wanted to ask you guys, is there a good place besides Ebay to get VMUs and some more controllers?
Also, is there anything special I should look for in a VGA cable? I noticed cablewholesale has both VGA and SVGA cables? Is there any advantage to the SVGA? Would it even work for me. Thanks for all you help guys.

I am loving Sega Bass Fishing (fishing controller) and Silver at the moment :P ....I would try Half.com or Amazon.com to buy cheap Dreamcast controllers, and VMUs. it seems, anywhere you buy VMUs they are expensive.
