I never got into the SVIII scene, why would they not want the parry system in IV, I can imagine to make it more "user friendly" and more "pick up and play" is this why? (The parry system adds all kinds of awesomeness to III).Force attacks are nice, but I can't help but feel like it's Capcom's attempt at making 'not a parry'.

Yeah, thanks to the Dreamcast, Super Street Fighter II X Grand Master Challenge For Matching Service was the first Street Fighter to go online. Then, thanks to the Xbox, Hyper Street Fighter II and Street Fighter III: Third Strike also went online.
And yeah, like I said before, the heavier characters like Balrog, Zangief and - obviously - Sagat dominate this game.
Them making Dan weaker honestly made me dislike this game all the more. Dan was one of the characters I used because, despite his silliness, he was still useful. Anyone who ignored his Supers and just focused on standard attacks with him could come out on top thanks to his standard attacks doing more damage than a traditional Shotokan. SF4 nerfed him worse than MvC2 did, making him completely and utterly useless.
I do kinda like the Focus system, but it has too many holes at this point. For instance, using a Focus Attack against Ken is useless - even if you block his Shoryuken's first hit, the other 2 hits will make you take double damage. This effectively gives him two Anti-Focus moves, much like Chun Li's Lightning Kicks and Zangief's Spinning Lariat which are moves that aren't technically Anti-Focus moves, but may as well be.

Well, technically, thanks to the XBand modem, the SNES versions of Street Fighter II and its offshoots were playable back in the 90s. I do love SFIV, but I can't figure out why I was able to play SFII on a dial-up connection back in the 90s with fewer dropped connections and less lag problems than I do now on a highspeed cable modem ethernet connection.
I didn't know SFIII was online. I guess my point about SFIV taking the series online is a little off; though it does seem like the first time they developed a strong online player base with lots of online options built into the game, unless of course that was all in SFIII. My experience with SFIII is all from the arcades. I'm willing to admit I was wrong about this point. Also, I don't know why I forgot about the EX series. Heheh. I used to love EX plus Alpha. Oh well. I guess SFIV isn't the first 3D Street Fighter.
I still like focus attacks and I like having at least one underpowered character for show-off battles. I love to beat opponents with a character that is clearly the worst of the lot. I loved Dhalsim and Zangief in the original SFII for that same reason.
