Just re-reading this topic again, and when you first mentioned the pinouts being incorrect for the converter I thought to myself, why not just rewire the converter...
Sounds like a straight forward mod if you have done soldering before or have a little electronics background. I think you should go for it, what you got to lose besides a converter? Wouldn't you be able to modify a ZIF socket for this type of thing? It would look untidy though.

just did a search for more info on the mod mentioned and found this pic
i know nothing about soldering or modding of electronics so this means not much to me, just thought it might help some others on this thread.
another vrc6 mod pic here...not much on how it was done but it looks hella cool

Looks very straight forward. Just 4 wires to solder, a resistor, and a capacitor. Not sure where the b/w wires are going though. Any more details on this mod, a schematic perhaps?

Re: Konami VRC6/VRC7 Famicom games playable on NES?
just been lookin up vrc6/vrc7 stuff again to see what systems could play them.
according to this thread from famicomworld http://www.famicomworld.com/forum/index ... 43.15;wap2
most of the famiclones can play these games, but the sound may not be reproduced correctly.
one system mentioned is the Q-Boy http://www.nesplayer.com/pirates/q-boy.htm
does anyone else on the forms have any famicom games with odd soundchips that they can test out for us? would be interesting to get a first hand impression.
edit: according to this neogeo thread, Lagrange Point works fine on the Generation NEX, but Akumajou Densetsu (castlevania 3) doesnt.

Re: Konami VRC6/VRC7 Famicom games playable on NES?
I have a NEX. CV3 (US) just gives you a colored screen like most clones. Interestingly, in a Family boy, CV3 starts but crashes if you try to start a game. This is the only game I have that I'm aware of that has a special chip. I can't seem to find a list of games, but if someone finds one I'd be happy to double check any games I have with the 3 clones I have.eSPy wrote: edit: according to this neogeo thread, Lagrange Point works fine on the Generation NEX, but Akumajou Densetsu (castlevania 3) doesnt.
