Turbografx 16 price question
Turbografx 16 price question
My wife is going to buy me one retro console with accessories for my upcoming birthday, and I'm thinking of getting a Turbografx 16. There are two for sale at a nearby flea market that go for $100 a piece with controllers and a few games, but I'm really not sure if that's a decent price or not.
Searching around the site and on eBay, it seems like the Turbografx isn't cheap, but I don't want to spend $100+ on a console if I could find it cheaper. Is $100 a decent price?

Re: Turbografx 16 price question
IMHO that's not a good price, even if its super minty complete in box, unless it also has the turbo booster and games. Maybe then.
The TG is sorta expensive to get because it didn't sell well so there aren't as many, and people are realizing it was actually a good system if you get good games.

Whatever the games are might break or make this deal. Could you list the games that come with it? To me $40 for system $60 cib. I have seen the systems w great games go for under $100 on EBAY. Sometimes I should bid on the system bundles because the games are cheaper then buying them alone.

Yeah, the TG16 is more expensive to buy but has some great games on it. For a TG16 and controller, you normally would pay (as I recall) about $50-$70. Most games you can get for a few bucks each on ebay fine. $100 is expensive though.

Re: Turbografx 16 price question
Wasn't there a thread about buying a TG16 not so long ago? The thread had a link to somebody selling them for about £40. So I'd say $100 is way too much. I think they were boxed too, unless I'm mistaken. The reason I remember is because I was going to get one, but then decided against it since I don't have the room right now.

$100 is way too much unless you get some rare games with it. the system with a controller should really be $25-40

Do not get a turbo. Get a Pc-engine.
Re: Turbografx 16 price question
Turbo Duo system from Japan is what I got, get a converter for American HuCards, and you can play anything made for the system. Maybe not super arcade games, but everything else is fine. I think a duo system would be a better deal overall. Might be kinda expensive, but then you have more options for gaming. Besides, doesnt your wife think you're worth it? Mine doesnt, but thats why I bought all my systems before I got married.

Re: Turbografx 16 price question
Good advice. I picked up a Turbo for 50 bucks this year in box and while I enjoyed it, I found myself looking more and more at Turbo Duo Games. I later dropped 200 bucks to get the Turbo Duo and it was worth every penny. The TG-16 is packed away.Quiet Flight wrote:Do not get a turbo. Get a Pc-engine.
Not to mention that if its only a TG and none of the upgrades, you can only do RF...

Not disagreeing with anyone's suggestions to get a Duo. But they are more expensive and harder to find.
Also note that TG-16 RF out is better than composite out of most Genesis models.Unleaded Logic wrote:Not to mention that if its only a TG and none of the upgrades, you can only do RF...
