The Wii has bad graphics and a game library overencumbered with shitty third party games. It does have some good franchise titles, but not enough to please the nintenboy. The 360 is up to par structure wise, but most of its good titles have superior ports to the PS3. The PS3 is better than all other consoles to date structure wise. Free online play. Upgrading the hard drive yourself is made easy. It has the better versions of all multi-platform games as well as a few good exclusive titles. It has more good games than the Wii, and better versions of 360 games. The PS3 is the best current gen console.
And anyone who argues that the PS3 is too expensive should take a look at the new $300 price tag. Anyone who says that the 360 is better just because it has Halo should get punched in the face.
Best Next-Gen System
Re: Best Next-Gen System
Microsoft really needs to scrap the 360 Arcade model and have a $199 base model with a wireless controller and 20gb harddrive at the least. Because now that the ps3's price has dropped, it has become the better deal over the 360 for the first time. For most the time it was only the better deal if you could justify the extra cost for bluray, if you didn't want bluray the 360 was still a good choice. But now that they're matched for price and the ps3 exceeds microsoft in features, they really need to get their act together to keep the lead. A non-gimped arcade model would do this.

Agree. I think they'd probably go for the 60gb HDD if they did this. Will be interesting to see what moves they make after Xmas. Seems they'll ride it out as is for the holiday and adjust from there.
Didn't vote. There is no best to me at this point. 360 has been tops for a long time, but PS3 is now caught up in nearly every way. And while I've been down on the Wii I'm ready for one now, even though they're still a tad bit overpriced IMO.
Re: Best Next-Gen System
I agree with the Microsoft should drop the non HDD 360. Seriously, they need to drop the system with no hard drive and need to get with the program as far as HDD being mandatory. Having a HDD-less SKU is just holding the developers back, yes I know that if HDD was mandatory there would be more mandatory installs on the xbox, but if it meant larger and more involving games then I'm all for it. Surely they can sell a bottomline unit with a 40/60GB hard drive for the same price as the Arcade, having the arcade version is just confusing to customers. Sony did the right thing for once and has 1 version of the system, the only thing that differs is the size of the HDD over time, but that's not even an issue because you can upgrade your own HDD.
It's still expensive though, in this country you can't get a PS3 for much less than £270 with 1 game and no other extras (not even a free headset or HD cable, which is beyond a joke, especially the lack of a HD cable in a HD GAMING SYSTEM FOR CHRIST-SAKES) whereas you can get a Xbox Premium/Pro/Elite whatever they call it these days, with 2 games an extra wireless controller and all the bells and whistles for about £180. 360 still has a MASSIVE price advantage over the PS3. Plus the games are cheaper for 360 here.
At the price Sony wants to charge for the PS3 it's still not selling well. If they had dropped the price of the Slim to £200 they would have run away and won this generation by now, but greedy Sony just won't do it.

I don't think the ps3 has the best version of all the multiplat games. Orange Box, Ghostbusters, Bayonetta, Tekken 6 =( are the ones I can think of that were somehow inferior. But it did score superior versions of some, at one point exclusive, xbox games. I am still angry that Canada has no video/comic support from the psn store, but at the moment that is my only complaint about the online service. I feel that the exclusives selection is also much better than the other systems. Demon's Soul, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid 4, Warhawk, Resistance 2, and Little Big planet being my favourite at the moment.
The argument about the ps3's price has always bothered me once it dropped to 499. The xbox was always cheaper but you had to buy a whole bunch of extra shit to match the functionality of the ps3. Wifi was another hundred bucks, the prices for a larger hard drive is ludicrous, no blu ray/hddvd unless you purchased another 100+ add on whose format later died, no integrated card readers, fewer usb ports, online fee, the failure rate, bla bla bla. I know some people will find what I listed off stupid because most of it is unecessary for a game console and most of it is fanboy drivel, but for how much it cost and what I got, listening to people tell me the 360 is a superior machine because it's cheaper has become stab yourself in the face maddening.
Re: Best Next-Gen System
Yeah I forgot about the fact that the arcade system comes with 2 games. But still. Both Sony and Microsoft are ripping customers off on the HDDs, but at least sony allows you to use a 3rd party HDD. I can buy a 1 terabyte drive for $150 and yet that same $150 only gets me 120gigs from microsoft. I would bet they're making around $130 on every one they sell. They could easily toss in a 60gig on the arcade unit and have the best gaming deal of anyone. I bet including a wireless controller on the arcade unit would spur sales of the play n charge kit as well.
And the ps3 not coming with HD cables is a complete joke.

Re: Best Next-Gen System
Well for some reason I am going to bust in and defend the Arcade model.
When I bought mine it had 256 of internal memory and this was quite a bit if you don't care about DLC. I think I had saves for 8 games before I needed to delete anything and the newest models of the 360 have 512mb built in. With an additional 256mb (that half of which isnt being hogged by system updates) I probably would have never bought a hard drive. Also it does include a wireless controller now and has for at least a year now.
That being said I still think the price is too high. It should be marked at $179 IMO and include some component/composite cables.
For the broke ass guy just trying to get into the next generation its really not a bad deal, but a price drop would be appreciated.
EDIT: I voted for the PS3. I have already had more enjoyment from it VS the 360.

You are totally right about this but at least it only costs $5 for an HDMI cable.

Re: Best Next-Gen System
The Wii doesn't get my vote because:
The graphics are bad, the system is in general underpowered. The whole "everyone can play it" thing has just lead to most of the games available for Wii being unchallenging casual fests, and the motions controls thus far have felt mostly gimicky, it adds nothing a button press couldn't have done better. I don't want to wave my arms around when I'm playing a game, it just feels dumb. And for some reason, the first party games for Wii are really expensive, considering how long most of them have been out. Seriously, Twighlight Princess was a launch game, it came out 3 years ago! It shouldn't still cost $50.
The PS3 doesn't get my vote because:
It has less good games than the 360, and most multiplatform games are better on the 360 (examples: the Orange Box, any EA sports game, Call of Duty 4, Splinter Cell DA). The PSN also has less good games than XBLA. PS3 gets many multiplatform games after the 360, and the gap can be anywhere from a few days to a year. And lastly, while the PS3 is more reliable, Microsoft has much better tech support than Sony.
The 360 gets my vote because:
Not because of Halo, let me make that clear. I love Halo, but it won't make me choose my console. I chose this because third party games are best here, it has many games that are exclusive to it and the PC, and because the games get cheap quick. And it has the best controller, so comfortable.
