OutRun 2006

Post by lunar »

Anyone plan on picking this one up when it comes out, if so which version? Loved the original and arcade style racers in general. I'll probably get the PC version since it should be less hassle to get online.

XBox version, all the way.
I'm curious how much better it will be that Outrun 2 (which I'm looking for right now)

I'll think about it. I'm not all that keen on racers anymore, and usually just hook up my N64 and play Star Wars Episode I Racer, Extreme-G or a Crusn' title when I want to play one. However, this does look sort of promising. I'll wait for reviews and such, as well as 360 compatibility (sadly, the Controller S simply doesn't feel good anymore)

It has 2 beautiful journeys instead of 1 :) (and missions, cars etc).

There were 2 versions of OutRun 2 in the arcade. One was OutRun 2 which had the one map, the other was OutRun 2 SP which had both the original map and a new map. OutRun 2006 is a port of OutRun 2 SP.

so would that make Outrun 2 now worth buying if you have '06?

Yeah if you can pick it up cheap, OutRun 2 has a few things 06 doesnt have:

- The original OutRun game is included (unlockable) , it is emulated
- 2 bonus stages (unlockables) based on the Scud Race and Daytona 2 tracks
- Gameplay mechanics different too , probably a bit more difficult
- Different sets of missions

OutRun fans will get both though :)

I'll probably just get the PC version on torrents when it comes out. I might buy it, but it'd have to really impress me - because Sega seems to be ruining their great franchises. Sonic Riders.... come on, it doesn't even come close to scratching Sonic 2 for genesis.

But the newest version of out run I've played was Outrunners in the arcade. So I don't know how good Out Run 2 was...

Now that would be awesome if they made a new 2D sonic (like viewtiful joe graphics) to the gamecube.

Well I'll probably end up getting both Outrun 2 and '06 then :)
I'll just start with Outrun 2 since its cheap now.

And even though Sega has been screwing up some of their franchises they seem to have done a good job with these Outuns

Yeah OutRun is one franchise that has been updated very well. The look, sound, feel and experience feels just like an OutRun game.

There are some hints that there may also be a next-gen Hang-On title:
