I got my sega cd from the attic to play sonic cd.As i was turning it on it showed robotnik sayin switch to ram memory.I did that and I sarted playing.I turned it off then the next day it showed the same robotnik message this was weird because I already did that so i switched and my memory was deleted .After looking throught the interweb I found out that i was to leave it on for 6 hours so i did just that but it still had that message.so i did the 6 hour thing again but this time i switched then left it idle but it still shows that message???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So my sega cd cant save and i need to know if im doing something wrong....Idont want to waste 40 bucks for a save cartridge.
Have you tried formatting the system memory through the Sega CD's memory management? Just start up the system without a disc; it will go to the music player screen. Then insert a game disc. The option for memory management should appear in the music player screen. Go into that, and it should give the option to format the system memory. You will lose all saved data, but it should get rid of the corrupted data.
Your system battery is probably dead. You can pick up a replacement for like 1 dollar. Someone else here can probably direct to you a tutorial on how to replace the battery.

So whys this under RPG. I would reformat it first just in case. Your saves will delete if you don't power on your system at least once a month for future reference.
Be careful if you choose to use soldering equipment. Its good to see someone so young take that initiative. If you plan on collecting other retro games and consoles knowing how to solder is a huge plus. That said, you should probably have either someone who knows what they are doing help you at first or at least just some kind of adult supervision until you are confident using the tools.

Its a 20 year old system. The battery just couldn't hold out any longer. Don't toss the system though. It'll probably be fine once the battery is replaced. If you can't get it done now, hold on until you can or get someone else to help you.
