SNES game help?

Post by KholdStare »

Okay, so I got a SNES game from my cousin and I cleaned it with water/alcohol(which I do to clean all my carts) and it didn't turn on. So I decided to reset it and nope, didn't work. So I cleaned it again and it still wouldn't work. Then after throwing it, it started to work. So to test it I turned it off and on again to get yet another black screen. Now I can get it turn on most of the time but half the time I have to restart it or keep turning it off and on. Is there a way I can fix this so it will work every time?

I would also like to note that Chrono Trigger did the same thing, but eventually started to work every time. I did the same thing I did with the other SNES game but this one seems to be having more trouble. :x

You said after throwing it, it started to work. Sounds like something might be loose inside. Can you open it up? You can make a security bit by melting down a pen.

Hmmm I don't believe I have the right bits to open it up.

When you open it, or if you can see, you should give the pins a good look.

Once I had an N64 game that was so dirty and rusted I actually had to sand down one of the pins. This obviously could break the game/reduce it's life though so if you do try it I would do it sparingly. This doesn't seem to explain the throwing part though lol, so it might have something to do with the Snes.

Haha I just thought that maybe throwing it would help? I know it wouldn't but I was just upset at the time and desperate. Anyway, I also thought that it could be the SNES but I tested plenty of other games and they all worked perfectly. It works if I reset it 3/4 of the time. Ugh.

Well I was gonna say, if it was some cheap/ordinary game it wouldn't be worth it. But EVO has some worth, and it also happens to be one of my favorites, so if you can't figure out the problem I'll offer to look at it for free, if you want. Mail it to me and pay to have it mailed back. I have a security bit and am pretty familiar with SNES games from making reproductions. Just putting the offer out there, I can understand if you don't care enough to even bother though.

Haha well I didn't toss the hell out of it, just sorta dropped it. And I highly appreciate that Ziggy but it seems to be working better now. It's 3/4 but works most of the time, sometimes I have to reset it but it works. Thanks to everyone for their input! :D
