What Saturn Import Titles are Necessary?

Post by thegore »

So my Saturn is on its way, and there are tons of Import ISOs out there than its possible to research and such, and I don't wanna get overeager and ruin my ratio at UG. I'm mostly wanting nice action/adventure games, and I tend to never finish RPG's, possibly because of my short attention span (though I did get 72 hrs into Xenogears at 14yo). Shmups are fun, but tend to frustrate me too much, so Radiant Silvergun will be enough on that end. Finally, 2D fighters are better in concept than practice for me; my favorite fighter ever is Soul Blade., but don't worry I'll give the classic 2D's a shot, just probably won't delve deep into the imports of that genre.

All that said, so far, I'm def. going for Bulk/Slash, Dracula X, Sillohuette Mirage, Princess Crown, and ............

Alot of the in house Sega 3D games are cheaper in their Japanese versions. Pick up stuff you might be able to get domestically cheaper and with cool Japanese design and art. Games like Fighting Vipers,Virtua Athlete,Sonic R, or Fighters Megamix are sometimes around 100 Yen and still brand new. Sure you might have them already, but there are many other games that are cheaper over there, and require no japanese language.

Oh crap, thats in japan, Ebay and mail order sites may vary :)
I like old games
I like new games

If you want action/adventure with an arcade feel you've got to get Elevator Action Returns, it takes an arcade classic and makes it fresh again with great style. Psychic Killar Tamoru (spelling?) gets some hype from its rarity, but it's actually quite an awesome ninja action game.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Vampire Savior are my favorite 2D fighters for the system, actually they'd be in the argument for best 2D fighter on any system. SFA3 on Saturn could even be described as the big brother of the arcade version. All of the best 3D fighters had a US release.

Hmm imports that arent shumps, this may be tricky.
Keritosse - If you can find it, 4 player party fighter
Bubble Symphony - Who doesnt love a game of Bubble Bobble? You ever ask somebody "hey wanna go play Bubble Bobble?" and their like "Hell no I dont like no Bubble Bobble." Bubble Bobble migh be the best damn thing on the planet...sorry tv is on.
Advance VG/Asuka 120% Burning Fest - they are different games but there is a finite amount of girl fighting games you can have.
Assault Suit Leynos 2 - To paraphrase racketboy "metal slug with mechs."
Cyberbots - Fun robot fighting game
Dungeons and Dragons Collection - Two awesome beatemup RPGs that were on CPS2. The arcade version is four player, while the console one is only two. If you like Guardian Heros, you should like this.
Fire Pro Wrestling - Pro Wrastling
Initial D - Decent street racing, "based off" the anime of the same name.

Thats it from me tonight.

great replies. I'll save these away. For now, I'm starting slow as to not ruin my ratio at Underground Gamers, but I'll get SFAlpha3 before long, methinks
