With the release and subsequent viewing of Ninja Assassin, it is now time to start a new Charity Foundation with the sole purpose of raising money to buy action movie directors a tripod, and the money to hire an armed guard to ensure that the directors use it.
Seriously, what the fuck is up with major studios these days? I mean do they sit in board rooms saying "you know, we have thirty million dollars for a Ninja movie, so we can hire the best martial artists in the world and the best fight choreographers come in and create the most insane actions set pieces in the history of Ninja movies, but let's hire a director who will shoot them six inches away from them and then hire an editor who will make six edits for every punch thrown so nobody can tell what the fuck is going on". Seriously, Ninja Assassin was so bad that the leaked fight rehearsal footage that was put on the internet a year ago is much more entertaining, and it was just a 5 minute video of a cheap mini-dv camcorder put on a tripod at the end of the room.
OK, I feel better after that rant....

Just saw it Thanksgiving night, and I actually liked it. But, then again, I'm a guy who loves martial art, asian movies.

NINJA ASSASSIN is the most redundant movie title ever.
It's like calling a movie: ROBBER BURGLAR

Haha, well, give it a try. I didn't think it was gonna be that good either, but ended up liking it.

I love them too, which is why I was so utterly dissapointed in the flick. I mean I wanted to see epic Ninja fights, and instead all I got was a lot of shaky hand held up close fights where you couldn't tell what the hell was going on until somebody lost a limb. I love Asian Jackie Chan and Jet Li films, you know, the ones where you can actually see their world class martial arts skills on display.

I haven't seen it yet, but, given that the Wachowski brothers are involved, it actually being good would be the much more surprising outcome.

One of my favorite kung fu flicks is The Forbidden Kingdom. Jackie Chan and Jet Li working together are an awesome combination. But my friend would always joke around and say the white guy killed it, but I didn't mind him.onemanfilmcrew wrote:I love them too, which is why I was so utterly dissapointed in the flick. That movie cannot match up to the pure win that is City Hunter.Veno wrote:One of my favorite kung fu flicks is The Forbidden Kingdom. It doesn't really take any longer to watch than most films.Veno wrote:Guess I gotta check that out. Probably whenever I have a good chunk of time.
