I once compared my friend's $129 Nitrogen filled HDMI cable to my $11 one on the title screen of Transformers BluRay on a 42" LCD. There was a little noticeable difference if I put my face 3" away and had him switch the cables quickly. I'd say on a double blind test I wouldn't be able to see any difference.
I have noticed big differences in coaxial, S-Video and RCA wires tho. The ones that are twice at thick do get a better, less-noisy picture.
I highly recommend not sinking your money into "Monster" brand cables tho. In my experience they don't seem to have any better quality than Nexxtech, or the other local dollar-store brands.
Difference in cable quality?
Re: Difference in cable quality?
I remember reading in an interview with the head of Monster that all of their HDMI cables support HDMI 1.4 whereas the others don't (or didn't at the time). That's it.Anapan wrote: I highly recommend not sinking your money into "Monster" brand cables tho. This right here. Don't waste your money. Just pick some up from Monoprice. You won't see a difference. As for the quality of these $100+ cables - it's all bullshit. I frequently wire up my own cables (generally hacking straight off-chip from consoles that have limited outputs) with the cheapest and nastiest cable around, and it's fine. Anyone spending triple figures (or even high double figures) on cables is the proverbial fool soon parted with their money.
