I hear the Borderlands ending is ridiculous as well.

Any ending that hints at a sequel without giving you a satisfying ending.

Even if the sequel is needed for the conclusion you should at least get a feeling of accomplishment not just a nagging feeling you should buy or hope a sequel is on the way.

For example Shenmue ends on a satisfying note it might not be the full story but you get a sense of accomplishment. You finally made it on the boat. Shenmue 2 however just kicks you in the balls with a cliffhanger.

while it not so much as the ending i hated but...well ill just tell my story... if anyone has played kingdom hearts and beaten the game they know that they can save afterward and go against extra bosses. well i owned the greatest hits version and i was getting excited! well it turns out that in the greatest hits version you can't save at the end (or it could just of been my copy). but just to make sure i wasn't being an idiot i went back to my last save point again and finished the last section of the game. once again no save option. that really pissed me off.

I hate it when the greatest hits versions don't have compatible saves with the black label. I can only think of silent hill 2 at the moment. I had beaten Silent Hill 2 many times when I had a ripped version. I unlocked all the stuff for it and I eventually got myself a retail greatest hits copy. I was all excited to play it again and the save wasn't compatible. It infuriated me so much I sold that copy and hunted down a black label version. Another instance has less to do with greatest hits, but my sister got FFX when we got our ps2. I played the crap out of it, and never finished it. Something happaned to the disc and it wouldn't work anymore. I later got my ps2 modded and someone sent me some games from vietnam. The FFX international version was among them. The save was not compatible. It was irritating but I dealt with it and restarted the game. Halfway through the game, someone tossed this copy of the game because it was vietnamese bootlegged and they are paranoid. I eventually bought my own copy of FFX but the save from both the original greatest hits copy and the international versions weren't compatible so I've yet to get around to playing it.

Yume Nikki kind of (okay, really) annoyed me. It just seemed like an unnecessary punch in the gut, despite the game really having no plot.

Oh, come on! Having GLaDOS sing "Still Alive" to me was one of my all time favorite gaming moments.


The worst ending ever was Ghosts 'n Goblins. It was ridiculously hard to pass and when you pass it the first time, you are told "this room is an illusion and a trapped devised by Satan." You are then kicked back to the very start of the game and you must complete it all over again to get the real ending. Additionally, if you don't kill Satan with the cross shield, the weakest weapon in the entire game, then you have to start over from the beginning again.

If you manage to make it through this gruelling ordeal, your reward is only this:

And on a side note, I'm one of the people that found the ending of Bad Dudes (either arcade or NES, they're pretty much the same except that in the arcade, the president is Reagan and on the NES the president is Bush Sr.) to be completely epic. Or, as I said once over on my forum:

What got me about that ending was that after wailing your way through a gauntlet of enemies that the combined U.S. armed forces, the Secret Service and Chuck Norris should have been fighting instead of two random street punks, then killing the Dragon Ninja and saving the President's life, your reward is a fucking cheeseburger.

"Thanks, President Fictional! Next time your ass gets kidnapped I'm just going to head over to McDonalds and order a cheeseburger instead of running the gauntlet to save you. The end result'll be the same."

dreamfall. don't make a game end with a fucking cliffhanger, if it's going to take you another 7 years to make the sequel. especially if your company is making 2 freaking mmos which could bankrupt them and we see no ending.

A lot of the endings on EA sports games have been big downers lately.

In Madden 1994, you get the trophy, even a parade. Lately it seems you get the exact same endings as if you won any other game, maybe with a trophy thrown in.
