If I was any good with electronics, I would have opened up my own GBC and put in a backlight a long time ago...It'd be nice, since my hands easily cramp on a GBA SP, and I end up playing my GBC games more than GBA.

Yeah... I think I remember reading something like that somewhere. I think there's a group who's starting to do frontlight and sound modded GB/GBCs and have an upcoming website to sell them through. Can't remember the site or group at the moment.

Re: Tricked out GBC
I swear I have seen the backing removed from GBC screens and back-lighting added. I don't have a link at the moment though.
Re: Tricked out GBC
It is possible to do it.
But it changes the thickness of the screen alot, and its hard to fit it back into the case.

Re: Tricked out GBC
The GBC case is tight enough when you put a GBA SP front light in it, so I'd imagine that doing a backlight would be a pain in the ass and really not worth it. My frontlight works just fine. It's really not hard to do either, from an electronics perspective. The hardest part is separting the frontlight from the rest of the screen of the GBA, since there's all the adhesives sticking everything together. You solder one wire to the main switch and the other to a resistor and one specific pin.

Re: Tricked out GBC
Since the GBA SP backlight is kind of un-even looking on the GBC, I think I'll just take off the LED's and install them in just the right places around the screen

I have seen the one on Modretro (I'm part of that forum).
For some reason, only a select few models of the GBA SP screen backlights work well for the GBC. Unfortunately, mine doesn't.
