Question about Dreamcast VMU's

Post by StuntDouble »

I just replaced the batteries in my VMU's, but I've noticed that they don't work once they're taken out of the controller. I was under the impression that they could be used a a portable gaming device as well. Am I missing something?

Those batteries must be dead, or the VMU is faulty in some way. Under normal conditions, the batteries will allow the VMU to function solo. Make sure you aligned them the right way.

Also know that the VMU has no games onboard unless you manually load games onto it. By default, a VMU can only do things like manage saves, trade with other VMUs, tell time, etc.

Hmm..they're brand new batteries, so perhaps the VMU's are the problem.

Just in case I'm doing something wrong, how does the VMU turn on. I've tried all the buttons, but nothing worked.

Since those are new batteries make sure the + symbol on all of them are facing the correct direction. Perhaps one or several of them are not inserted correctly.

And remember that the batteries will die quick! VMUs drain the battery so much!

Yeah, what he said. I spent like $12 Dollars filling up all my VMUs, and about a week later WITHOUT turning them on all of them were dead. I just don't put batteries in them anymore, and there really isn't much to do outside the home for these things.

True. Was a great concept which wasn't really used well. Then again it was a little under powered. Although there was a version of Tetris on this!
