YAY, Watchmen! Did you think the movie was horrible as well? The book was amazing, the movie...decent at best.

The graphic novel is great. You can get it at a local bookstore for $20, its a reprint though. You wont be able to put it down until you've finished it.

I've been considering picking it up for some time ever since the movie was big in theaters, but have just passed on it due to games, manga, anime and a general lack of money.

That's an overstatement... I put it down after page 3. The only reason I then returned is I didn't want to leave with a bitter tongue and not be able to say I actually read it. My big headed comic book fan friends all go "well you never got to the good stuff!" Yeah, really, Spiderman gets so much better in issue 1 million 6 hundred and 4... does it? Well I'm not waiting around until then, sorrz.

You've got to consider someone's enjoyment of the theme on hand. Superheros aren't so widely loved as superhero lovers like them to be. And seeing as Watchmen is essentially a dark parody on superheros... yeah.

My fav was someone conned my mom into reading Watchmen. She laughed her head off at the guy who suggested it, I mean really... you're going to try and get a women in her 40's who is an English majour to read Watchmen? It made for good laughs.

Its basically a what if book, about what if super heroes were real and how it would effect the world. It doesnt get good until the middle. I've read it several times but if its not for you, then its not for you. I'd say to at least give it a try, but DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIE.

Oh and I watched the movie, it wasn't bad at all. As movies go. I wouldn't call it great either, but hey, it was on par with the graphic novel in my opinion. The graphic novel being a little better in that there was more to the plot

I don't read comics... that was my point.

As I said, it's a "dark parody on superheros"... a "what if" as you put it.
