Indeed, need to check the WAN IP address reported by the router. May have to open up whatever ports that CSS uses as well for anyone outside to connect.

Yeah puke_face is right, running a server can be a daunting task, there's nothing to laugh at.
Xonticus, when you do get the server up, send me a friend request. My steam userID is the same as my user name here.

Re: My Counter Strike Source Server is up!...
man you people get your feelings hurt so quickly.
The guy just made a lol face... it was funny. If anyone here can't take a little laugh directed at them, well they should probably find somewhere else to hangout... like under a rock.
As for xonticus:
first you can easily find your external ip by going to any of the many websites that tell you for ease:
like http://www.whatismyip.com/
furthermore, to make things easier you can use DNS forwarding to give yourself a semi-unique domain name. The services tend to be free (for simple dns forwarding) with extra features for pay. The great thing about them (that most free services give) is invisibly updating the public IP address in the case of a dynamic IP address.
Back when I used to host FTP site back when they were popular was no-ip
http://www.no-ip.com/services/managed_d ... c_dns.html
the application runs on any OS and just basically contacts the server any time the IP address changes letting it know that they should be forwarding to a new IP. You can even append the default port to forward on so that way anyone visiting on a generic port (for instance port 80 for simple web services like html) can be quickly changed to any port you want. This is useful because some IPs block port 80.
All of this will let you tell people to connect to 'something.something.com" instead of some weird ip address and port. the free accounts have tons of domain names and sub-domains to use. Like I used to use 'hag.servebeer.com'
once you get all that working, you may want to check your iptable. I don't know what you're using for routing, but you'll need to set up your ip routes through your network to get to that internal ip address and port. Assistance with that is going to require knowing WHAT you're using for your routes (is it just a simple standalone router, a server machine, etc etc)

Also, don't forget to install Sourcemod so that you can remote admin your server, unless of course, you live in your game shop

Re: My Counter Strike Source Server is up!...
Hey guys, I really appreciate everything you are doing to help me out.
It was a simple mistake on my part, I posted the IP prematurely. To be honest, the server never got fully up and running anyways and I ended up running around like a chicken with my head cut off right after I posted this topic for the rest of the day.
The situation is, my boss has a T1 line set up at our game store. We don't come close to using that kind of bandwidth, so I wanted to put it to use, and get some free advertisement out there for our small business. Well my manager seemed to forget that I had ever talked to him about setting such things up, and condemned it the second he saw it. A lonely pc tower tucked in a corner, being called " An Eyesore". Oye.
Anyways, I will probably do more than 2 hours prep time on the server THIS TIME before I actually post back here with any success and open invites.
I appreciate everything you guys are doing, and again thanks.
Oh by the way, This server WILL go up... I just have to set it all up in a place the manager wouldn't even care for and all will be fine. Also, I had put Mani mod on it to better manage in-game remotely, and plan on taking every suggestion you guys have thrown at me. You guys are the reason I linger these fine forums every day.
Cheers!
