So that's why the buyer thought they were Wii games. Of course, we can all tell what you meant by that, but not everyone is an expert. Since you did tell the buyer you were selling Wii games, I don't think it's too surprising that the buyer thought you were selling Wii games. Gamecube games are playable on the Wii but they are not Wii games. Next time just call them what they are and you can avoid gullible buyers making the same mistake.Lot of 2 Gamecube/Wii games

As mentioned, I'd be careful on the 'yelling' when commenting back as it can make you look bad. Just answer matter of fact. For people that actually look at feedback before bidding, if a noob or an idiot cannot understand that you clearly stated the shipping time or see from the pictures that they're clearly GC games and the Wii wasn't even out for 2004 & 2005 sports games, well that's probably a good thing if you scare off idiots. Any rational person would see that you had clearly stated and you have much more feedback than the noob and not be bothered.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. At least you didn't get a negative.

Yeah, I probably reacted too quickly in my response! Oh well, I've asked eBay to just remove it altogether and hopefully they will comply...Hobie-wan wrote:As mentioned, I'd be careful on the 'yelling' when commenting back as it can make you look bad.

Being an asshole on ebay, even if someone deserves it makes it so people won't buy from you. I see noobs giving stupid negative feedback to sellers who did everything right, then the seller blows up in response (a lot worse than D did). I've missed out on a few cheap items because the seller posted a lot of really angry responses to noob buyers with 20 or less feedback. I skip those sellers because I don't trust them to be reasonable if there's any problem.Quiet Flight wrote:F-that, Rip him a new asshole for being a retard.dsheinem wrote:Yeah, I probably reacted too quickly in my response! Nobody likes shopping in a store where the owner is always yelling at people.

Read the ebay listing posted; to anyone who doesn't know it looks like you can play the GameCube games on the Wii - no mention that you need a GC controller (should really have been mentioned, in hindsight?). Not everyone knows much about the Wii, they are designed for low-tech people to pick up and play, so if the buyer was after a "Wii game" and your listing said "can play in a Wii" without saying "as long as you have the GC controller", they would be disappointed.
Now look at the listing again, read it as someone with no gaming knowledge - how does it read to you now?
It's a bit like listing a car and saying "you can use this on the highway" - without saying "as long as you have passed your driving test, have insured the vehicle and taxed it; and put fuel in the car tank as it is empty". Seems silly, however covers the bases!
Hate to say it, but the issue was the listing (to the novice, ie many Wii owners), neutral comments are not fun but at least it wasn't negative.

Almost every Gamecube game listing on eBay mentions it can be played on Wii. The manual for the Wii specifies how to play these games. Should I spell out the entire Wii instruction manual in the listing?!

Again, I wouldn't worry about it this time. Not having a Wii, I didn't know you could only play with a GC controller, but maybe add that you'll need a GC controller next time so that another noob buyer can not read it next time. The buyer has to accept some responsibility as well.dsheinem wrote:Almost every Gamecube game listing on eBay mentions it can be played on Wii. A long time ago I bought an cheap Aussie copy of Axelay. The seller was in Australia and it showed a picture of the cart. Silly me forgot they used PAL and was thinking it was going to be more or less like a Japanese cart that I had already modded my system for. This was before a lot of game sellers in other countries added "make sure this game works with your system blah blah" to listings. I got the game and obviously couldn't play it, but it was my fault. In this person's case, a cheap GC controller will get them going and they learned something they obviously hadn't bothered to read in their instruction manual.

Mentioning that it can play on the Wii is fine. That's true and it's not deceptive at all. You could argue that it's unnecessary information but many Wii owners are unaware their machine can also play Gamecube games.dsheinem wrote:Almost every Gamecube game listing on eBay mentions it can be played on Wii. The title is a different story. You say they are Gamecube/Wii games. That would be the same as calling a music CD a "CD/DVD" just because it plays in DVD players. Is it really a DVD? No. So why make it sound like it is?

Re: another bitch about eBay - can neutral feedback be fixed?
Come on guys, for what, the 3rd or 4th time... The image clearly shows they are GC games. The listing inside states "You are bidding on two games for the Nintendo Gamecube. Games are also playable on the Wii." Come back once you've gotten all the people that put "RARE OMGZORZ!!!!!!**********LOL" in their title for games that are more than 5 years old and there are always 10-20 copies for sale at all time. What about people with an auction title of "Ikaruga - Radiant Silvergun - MUSHA" and are only selling one of those three in the auction? I find those listing purposefully disingenuous. If D had that same title, no image, and the inside text simply stated "Come with disc, manual, and case" then maybe that argument might hold a little bit of water.Inazuma wrote:Mentioning that it can play on the Wii is fine. Wii titles cannot be played on a GC, but the reverse is true and D was selling GC games so I don't see a problem listing both. Could it have been worded better? Sure, but its not purposefully lying. With your example, a CD/DVD title would be stupid, but not untrue. You can play CDs in a DVD player.
