3D gaming glasses
3D gaming glasses
I just saw this deal on a 3D gaming setup. I didn't realize this kind of technology was available to consumers yet. It seems pretty cool. Has anyone tried it yet? I love the 3D they have at IMAX theaters now. Is this the same kind of thing on a smaller scale? Anybody know which games support this kind of stuff?

Nah, just kidding. I'm kind of interested in hearing about how this technology may have improved over the last twenty years as well.
Re: 3D gaming glasses
hehe. Yeah, I was thinking of Rad Racer and 3D World Runner as I posted this.
3D tech has improved a lot since then though, so I'm wondering if this setup does 3D as well as the 3D IMAX theaters do (on a smaller scale of course).

Ive heard of it , I think it sounds like a good idea but its kind of expensive just to get something 3D, but I see computer gamers buying that.

It looks like it's running pretty much on the same principle, just at a higher frequency so you'll actually get 60 fps in each eye.Ack wrote:

I'm some how on an nVidia mailing list, they sent me an email featuring that last night. I was gonna post it but figured some one else surely would. It's pretty cool, I guess. I don't care about it, but I have no idea whyJ T wrote:I just saw this deal on a 3D gaming setup. I didn't realize this kind of technology was available to consumers yet. It seems pretty cool. Hmm it hasn't come down in price? Anyway if you have a 120Hz LCD monitor you can get the glasses alone for $180. Now when it comes to effectiveness it depends on the person viewing the imagery. A sizeable percentage do get motion sickness. You will also need a fast GPU to achieve +100fps in order for the 3D illusion to sustain itself, otherwise it'll flicker all over the place. I guess the best bit about Nvidia's glasses is that driver support is already there: 350+ games are already playable in pseudo-3D aka stereoscopic mode.

I seriously can't wait for the temporary resurgance of this fad to go away again.

I've always been a fan of VR and 3D glasses, but never owning a pair myself. I just wish the prices will go down eventually.
