Man, I've never been to a board where the moderators have so much power (although I only post at two boards). The fact that a moderator can just edit anyone's post as they see fit is kind of fuc

First of all, Inazuma is using the guise of the division of property to make his argument. Though it isn't common, division of property can and has happened outside of marriage. In fact, the very fact that it isn't common outlines the other side of Inazuma's argument: Non-married couples don't receive the same protections and responsibilities that marriage provides, which includes dependency benefits, tax exemptions, pensions, surrogacy arrangements, survivor benefits, etc.

Inazuma is so concerned with the division of property that he ignores the reason why it exists. His analogy of a coin toss asserted the idea that half of my property should go to him if he won the coin toss. The analogy makes the division of property sound arbitrary and absurd, when it exists for good reason. If a stay-at-home parent (I resist the word "mother" because I am, in fact, a stay-at-home father) should take care of the children during the marriage, why shouldn't they be entitled some property when the relationship dissolves? The point here is that both partners benefited from the relationship, so the assumption that the side of the relationship that makes more money is automatically "losing out" because of a divorce settlement (which is more often a mutual decision, I might add) is utterly absurd.

Of course, I say this knowing that Inazuma is also against children and monogamy, so I realize this is a lost cause. This isn't a case of some pretense against the issue of marriage because of some semantic issue with the word "marriage." Take away the word "marriage" and all we have is a legal binding meant to protect both partners in their commitment towards a lifetime together.

MY annoyance has nothing to do with Inazuma or his opinions on anything. My problem is that any time the words "marriage" "wedding" "wife" or anything similar get typed on this forum for ANY reason at all the whole damned thing turns into the same "marriage is for idiots" "I'm too smart to give away half my stuff" "I'm superior to everyone here even though half the time I sound like a 12 year old."

I'm sorry Inazuma but you are annoying dude. I'm not trying to be rude but you really need to grow up a little bit. You, in fact, do not know everything. That is abundantly clear to everyone but you. You make a huge ass out of yourself and blindly believe that you have made some point.

Yes, you are entitled to your opinion. Now quit trying to shove it down everyone's throat every chance you get. Talk about something else already. You are getting on my last [moderator removed for inappropriate content] nerve.

I'm really not trying to be mean little fella. I would like you just fine if you would quit being so smug.

You know, I have an overwhelming urge to go back, erase every post in this thread, and put that down in its place.

I would like to take a moment and thank you for pointing this out.

Bruised egos aside Inazuma, let us just say we agree to disagree about things we are passionately rooted in yet cannot fully convey what we mean to the other party. I was wrong to call you a troll, because I thought you had a simple goal of derailing the topic at hand beyond repair, instead was just trying to prove a point you care about.

Beyond that, it's nothing personal, so please don't take it that way and try to make it sound like you are talking to a mere child, because you aren't.

We are on here to discuss and have fun as a community, right? Let us continue to be a community and aim to share, not dismember.

Cheers everyone!

This thread is still happening? I thought for certain it'd be gone before I got back.
