Best TV for Gamnig?
Re: Best TV for Gamnig?
One thing you can do is pick up an XRGB-3 and put it in B1 mode. It causes exactly one frame of delay and has the benefit of sending the signal over a VGA cable. Pretty much any modern TV should be able to take in the VGA input and they are very hands-off on that signal, as you're simply using the TV as a PC monitor. The XRGB also lets you use JP RGB cables as well, so you can get the best picture quality out of your console.

I would love to get my hands on an XRGB-3. Too bad they're damn near impossible to find and hella expensive when you can.

Expensive, but not horribly so. Definately cheaper than a new TV.

For $430.00 plus international shipping one of us Americans would actually be able to buy a decent HDTV during the upcoming holiday clearance.MrPopo wrote:http://www.solaris-japan.com/index.php/ ... lt/?q=xrgb

That having been said I do want one just for posterity purposes, but I won't be able to get one until later in the holiday season when the extended hours and good paychecks really start picking up and even then it'd be a huge expense for someone like me.

You know, I don't think I've ever gone shopping during holiday clearance season. Still, it gives you the best performance you can get outside of a CRT from a lag perspective.

You should try it, usually the pubic only wants the cheapest model with the shiniest case leaving the slightly more expensive but truly high quality gems (LG 45 in. 120hz LCD $600 at Sears next week) free for the taking to those that really know what they're looking for.

Re: Best TV for Gamnig?
With Black Friday around the corner and with some spare money in hand. I was wondering which type of TV is better? A plasma or a LCD? I've read through this thread and didn't pick up on whether or not the plasma TVs have burns on the screen? Probably just going to be playing my PS3 and CMVS on the TV so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

At this point in time it doesnt really matter. Plasma TV's have improved dramatically in the last 4 years so the risk of burn in is not nearly what it was but Plasma tend to have much better colors and contrast. It really depends on what you want to get, test with your eyes.itsmattxp wrote:With Black Friday around the corner and with some spare money in hand. I was wondering which type of TV is better? LCD's are cheap and extremely low maintenance, but suffer from less color along with lower refresh rates and contrast levels.
Plasmas are expensive but have higher refresh rates better colors and superior contrast. The only thing to worry about is getting burn-in after having an unmoving image onscreen for an extended period of time.

Re: Best TV for Gamnig?
I just recently bought this TV:
http://www.lge.com/us/tv-audio-video/te ... 47LH90.jsp
It is an LCD with LED backlighting, got it on sale for $1300... one of the last sets in my area. I had been using a friend's 1-2 year old plasma TV but I couldn't stand the lag on it (could especially tell on games like Super Smash Bros. Brawl). I can tell you that the vibrancy and blacks on this TV are great compared to what I have seen before. Not having image burn-in is also a plus. The only "retro" system I have tested on it is N64 and although the video was blurry (need to get some cables that are higher quality than composite) there was no "lag" that I could feel while playing. This comes from someone who has played PC FPS games competitively and has gotten all platinums in Blast Corps
I will have to get back on how the older systems perform.
