Which was the game you wanted to like the most but didn't?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Street Fighter IV.

I loved the Alpha and III series. I really wanted to like Street Fighter IV, considering there isn't much else out for 2D Fighter fans, but instead it felt more like a direct sequel to Street Fighter II than anything... and God knows, Street Fighter II is played out far too damn much as it is. Even worse, I found none of the new characters fun to play as, and there were no SF3 characters in the mix at all.

I think I played it for about a week and gave up on it. Huge, huge disappointment.

Even worse, in a recent interview, when Seth was asked if anything would be done about how horribly cheap Sagat was, his response was "He's like an 8 foot kick boxer! He's gonna dominate!"

Fucking Sigh. Just because a character is physically imposing doesn't mean you should intentionally make them God Tier.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic - oXBox

Those commercials had me going and even my wife pushed me to go get it. I had no idea it was RPG'ish and till this day I haven't played it since.

skate. ive always loved skateboarding games (i skateboard, big suprise) but i just couldnt get into this one. all my friends like it. i guess the controls just really throw me off and it never became really enjoyable. i dont care about the realism at all either so ill just stick with the thps games.

Grand Theft Auto IV, I tried to get into it but I thought it was too hard because I beat all the other ones on PS2. I have SF3 on Dreamcast, I don't like playing it, I still rather play Street Fighter Alpha 3.

Final Fantasy VIII. I had played little bits many years ago and remember it being good, so I tried to play through it again a few months ago. I had to keep pushing myself to play it, but god, it is such an awful game.

The first game that came to mind for me was Lightening Force on the Sega Genesis. Maybe its just that I completely suck at it, but I couldn't get into it.

Got a few:

God of War - I wanted to like this game; but after trying to play it three times (the third time I got the farthest) I just kept saying "Devil May Cry 2 is better than this garbage!" I honestly couldn't find ANYTHING to like about that game.

Dragon Quest VIII - Okay this is more of a love-hate relationship. I love the combat, I love the graphics and music...I hate the progression and the story is incredibly boring.

BlazBlue - I LOVE the Guilty Gear series (Judgement is, in my opinion, the best portable fighter ever made) and I really wanted to love this game and it made an incredible first impression. But the more I play it, the less I like it and after playing a ton of KOFXI and GG Accent Core Plus; I just can't play it anymore without realizing I have much better games.

Burnout Paradise - Loved Burnout 3 and Revenge; to me they just took all the best parts out of the series and replaced it with frustration with this installment.

Orange Box - I barely play online so I can't speak for TF2 but I could not for the life of me get into HL2 or even Portal. HL2 just felt lame with unfair AI (why does every soldier have perfect aim?) and Portal was just boring and frustrating for me.

Valkyrie Profile Covenant of the Plume - God I wanted to love this game; I love the concept and I really love SRPGs and I know the VP series is known for difficulty but this was just completely unfair.

Final Fantasy IV DS - Again, why was the difficulty so ramped up compared to the previous versions? I would power level for two hours and still lose to bosses...

I think that's it...

Krooner wrote:Call of Duty series, never liked any of them. And Alien Hominid which i think is predominantly too difficult to be any fun at all.
I hated Alien Hominid HD at first, but I gave it another shot a few months back and everything just clicked. It is definitely VERY difficult, but not unbeatable by any means. It's a lot like the Metal Slug games.

"Shock" games.

I tried to start System Shock 2 several times, but never made it past about 30-40 minutes of playing. I've restarted Bioshock several times as well. I've made it about as far as the the mini sub 'incident' twice, but there's something about the gameplay that just turns me off. :(
