Anyone else try Torchlight?

Post by jfe2 »

I downloaded the demo from Steam and played it for about an hour tonight. I have to say I'm quite impressed! The game only costs $19.99 and is a really addictive dungeon crawler. It's a Diablo clone, but I swear that's not a bad thing! The bright and colorful graphics and the loot system makes me want to play forever... LOOT!

Anyone else try this game? I can see myself putting HOURS into it...

I might try this out. I just downloaded the Knights of the Chalice demo from their website. Good stuff. Nice to see there is atleast someone making these kinds of games still.

Have they made a retail/boxed version of Torchlight?

Nice. I'll pick that up for sure. I just can not get into paying for DL versions of games.

I own it.

It's a ton of mindless fun, but it KILLS me that there's no multiplayer option--no internet, no LAN! This game would be so great if you could just LAN and explore the dungeons with a buddy! That's what made Diablo I and II so great to me.

I like a challenge so I picked the worst character I could think of and put him on the hardest difficulty. The melee wizard is a tough character. I do less melee damage than the warrior and I have half the life. :( It's fun though! Quite a challenge.

I would recommend this game if you want something you can play for an hour and put down or, for that matter, play for 8 hours and keep going.

I've been having fun with it, though I personally think that it's a little too anal about line of sight on ranged attacks. I've wasted so much mana on my Vanquisher because of a little piece of debris that blocked LOS. And I also wish that it acted like D2 with regards to charmed enemy mobs. D2 doesn't let you target them, while this does (and your attacks will pass through). Once again, a waste of mana.

I bought it. It is a really good Diablo clone (better than Fate or its sequels) and is only $20 (although I got it for $2). The loot system is actually pretty good.

While looking for more stuff like that, I stumbled upon this gaming-inspired wall art site — kinda cool if you like bringing some fantasy vibe into your setup.
