We've gotta get Ted Turner to colorize it.

Went to the Short Circuit Film Festival on it's stop in Avon at the Barefoot Station. It consisted of 12 short films by Southern filmmakers. Some, like "Monster Movie" (cute and funny) were animated. A few, like "Sunlight and Babies" (about truckers; it's title refers to the two things that a truck doesn't bring) and "Faster Pastor" (about a car race between pastors, as a way of further connecting to the congregation) were documentaries.

They also showed a trailer for a local documentary about a man in Manteo.

Saw 2012. It wasn't good but I knew that going in. I went cause my two other friends didn't want to go without me because it would be gay if it was just the two of them... Only paid 4$ though.

Bruno. It was hilarious and I recomend it if you don't mind seeing gay dudes and their genitals.

I swear I'm sick of the G word being uttered every other minute. Anyway that reminds me, American Beauty is brilliant and apparently will remain relevant for ages to come.

Also watched 9.. A decent change from all those stupid 3D animation movies, but it was short and the characters shallow. Tim Burton should produce more CG movies.

I really enjoy Sacha Bara Cohen and the Bruno character, but this movie was HORRIBLE!

Here's what I wrote back in July around the time it came out:

Bruno – What a disappointment. I got a chuckle from the Ali G film and thought that Borat was a sharp-witted satire with lots of laughs. Cohen’s sketches with all his characters are also usually comedy gold - so I don’t know how he could have gone so wrong with this film. Outside of two or three genuinely funny bits (e.g. the Ron Paul confusion or the Abdul scene), this film didn’t have the laughs. It’s “shock” moments rarely functioned as punchlines and often seemed to be thrown in for the sake of shock. Everything here came across as contrived and staged in a way that Borat didn’t (even if it was), and much of it was painful to watch.
