GB of free disk space readouts
GB of free disk space readouts
I use Vista 64. Between system restore point creationss, windows updates, and various other processes. I've seen my free disk space readouts bounce around a lot. Recently though, I gained 45 GB in one day, then lost 15 the next. What the hell? Is there any explanation for why THIS MUCH memory would appear and disappear? Even for system restore points that seems like a lot. I'm hoping I don't have some virus eating away at files that I'm not aware of, but recent antivirus scans suggest no.

My guess would be that Vista is using your primary disk for some sort of pagefile and it is causing some inaccurate space readings. I'm not all that familiar with Vista 64 though so that is just speculation.

System restore points can consume a lot of space. If you don't need the older ones, try deleting them.

You probably now you can set how much space you want system restore to take up on the hard drive right? Yeah I know you know.
