Hy,
I just bought a copy of Final Fantasy IV for 5 bucks on ebay. Everything I save the it's gone when I turn of the power.
Anybody know this issue?

Final Fantasy IV GBA can't save
Re: Final Fantasy IV GBA can't save
The battery is dead, you need to open it up and replace it.
Re: Final Fantasy IV GBA can't save
That's what I thought but the game isn't that old. I've SNES games laying around which work like a charm.
Do you have a link where I can get a tutorial how to do it?
thx

Re: Final Fantasy IV GBA can't save
From my understanding most GBA carts used flash memory, but some did use battery's (You may have bought a boot leg) but at any rate just grab a tri-wing screwdriver (Pretty sure thats what they use, im at work and cant check) and see if it has a battery. If it does just take not of the model (or look it up online) and buy a new one and replace.
If it doesn't, I would think that the cart is damaged due to a electric shock of some kind.
If you really need a tut, im sure google can help you.

I opend it up and it's a bootleg. I'm thinking about buying a new battery but I'm not very good with soldering and that kinda stuff. So maybe I pick up another copy hopfully a good one
btw the cover looks different too.
thx anyway

Re: Final Fantasy IV GBA can't save
Just to confirm, that is correct. An official GBA cart will have a triwing screw, unless it was replaced or the cart is a boot. Official carts will also have at least a 2 digit number/letter code stamped on it. Though I do have a few with 2 pairs, and my Puzzle Fighter has a 3 digit code.emwearz wrote:From my understanding most GBA carts used flash memory, but some did use battery's (You may have bought a boot leg) but at any rate just grab a tri-wing screwdriver (Pretty sure thats what they use, im at work and cant check) and see if it has a battery. Re: Final Fantasy IV GBA can't save
also, you can use tape to install the new battery rather than soldering it. But yeah, ebay is full of bootleg GBA games somehow.
Re: Final Fantasy IV GBA can't save
It's annoying, I'd like to collect GBA games but the whole bootleg thing on ebay just puts me right off.
