Questions about the Dingoo A320
I was wondering about the Dingoo because I might add one to my Christmas list if its worth $80+.
-Is it a good system?
-What emulators does it support?
-and is there anything you can get thats better for the same price?

Re: Questions about the Dingoo A320
So you know where I'm getting my opinions and facts from, I own one.
-Is it a good system?
Yes, it's very reliable and works great. The online community and support is absolutely huge for it. I payed $80usd for mine from Deal Extreme, free shipping. Great value.
-What emulators does it support?
The native ones include SNES, NES, GBA, Genesis/Megadrive, CPS1, CPS2, and Neo-Geo
and then you can download Sega Master System/Game Gear, Gameboy/Color, and more.
Those are just for the native firmware. With the SD card expansion slot, they have developed Linux for it which is called Dingux. It works surprisingly well. There are so many emulators for this and there are more released everyday. A week or two ago a PSX emu came out. It has a lot of issues and no sound, but it's impressive for how early its development is. Plus FF7 is one of the games that works well on there. MAME and FinalBurnAlpha are emu's for Dingux that may get your attention as well. Dingux also runs many PC ports, like Quake, Doom, and other games from that era.
There are issues though, this is far from perfect. The SNES emu on the native firmware runs a very small percentage of games at full speed. However, that's where Dingux helps. Also, I'm sure that they're going to release a native emu that works well with that sometime in the near future.
-and is there anything you can get thats better for the same price?
I've seen many of those fake PSP things that come with a few emus on them, but I don't think any really compare. The Dingoo seems like the best choice, I know that's why I bought mine. The Pandora and GPX2 are probably the main competitors, just because of how well they're known, but I don't think that the value is the same. The GPX2 runs everything pretty much the same I think, but it costs more and the support is smaller. The Pandora is $300, but I think it's supposed to run Dreamcast games. I'm not really sure. Still, I'm a Dingoo fan. It was well worth the money.
Hope I helped.

Yeah, the Pandora just didn't seem worth it to me. Plus, how far in advance people have ordered them seemed crazy to me. Still, I'm just a high school kid working in fast food, so that's a lot of money for me.

Re: Questions about the Dingoo A320
I have a much harder time letting go of my Dingoos than I did getting rid of my PSPs. I'm not saying that it is better..but emulation is close in comparison and it has a much nicer form factor, a 4:3 screen (better for retro), a lively homebrew community, and better portability.
For the price you aren't likely to find a more satisfying purchase.
Also, with Dingux as already stated nearly everything up to and including (limited) psx is available.

Dingoos? Do you have multiple units that you are selling - I am looking into getting one for Christmas too. If so, how much are you selling them for?jp1 wrote:I have a much harder time letting go of my Dingoos than I did getting rid of my PSPs. There is a Dingoo Wiki out there that I was looking at today that talks a lot about the system.
The link is on this page as well as some other links that may be useful. The retail site link, however, lists them for a little more expensive than I have seen elsewhere:
http://www.dingoo.org/
Here is where I saw them cheaper:

This site also has some neat accessories - not many as there don't seem to be that many yet, but I like the black leather (pleather) case.

Re: Questions about the Dingoo A320
I have 2 units. I have toyed with the idea of selling one of them a couple times. The north american retailer is a bit high, but you won't wait nearly as long as dealextreme.
One noteworthy thing is that there are some newer units coming out without the paw print graphic on the back and they are reported to contain cheaper internal components. It doesn't seem to affect official software but the "dingux" and much of the homebrew has compatibility problems at the moment with that particular model.
This is probably the best site to gather info on the dingoo...

There is a lot of backlogged info on there since near launch date. And the link to the (dingoonity) forums can net you some more up to date info.
Edit: I see thekorean12 already posted the same links. Those are probably the best sites to get acquainted with if you are interested in the dingoo scene.

I heard about this problem with the newer units and this worries me. Of course when I will finally be able to get one it will most likely have issues :-/jp1 wrote:I have 2 units.
