So an old buddy of mine gave me a call out of the blue a couple days ago, said he was in town for a few hours and wanted to show me something. Well I headed down to a mutual friends place and after some catching up he fires up a Wii. I thought he was going to show me Excitebike (I forgot it came out Monday), but no he shows me the NSMB. I only got to play the first few stages, and by myself since we only had one wiimote, but dear me it was awesome.
It plays alot like the DS title. So yes, Mario runs alittle fluidly and you can wall jump and butt stomp (wall jump by hitting jump next to a wall, butt stomp by pressing down when you are in the air). But after a few stages you will have the hang of it. The overall gameplay seems like a mix of World, 3, and DS. It moves like the DS title but stage design is similar to the other two.
And now to the bullet points:
- There are plenty of hidden space. Some you will just happen upon, some you will have to actively hunt out.
- A card flip game similar to the one in 3 was in one of the Toad houses I visited.
- You can choose items before each stage.
- Propeller hat is fun, and Mario makes funny noises as he descends (pushing down gives you a whirlwind down attack)
- Shaking the remote to activate things (propeller hat, pickup, etc) was tedious but workable
- Ice flower lets you freeze enemies so you can pick them up/use them as steps. Once frozen you can throw them or butt stomp them to break them. You can also jump and shake and youll shoot fireballs both directions from you - ala World's spin attack with fireflower.
If yall have any questions I can try to answer them. I know I am anticipating my copy come Sunday midnight. And I realize now that there is a dump of the game online, which kinda sullies my story (I was told to not say anything about it until Thursday or Friday) - ohwell.

Nope, legit retail disc - atleast it looked legit. He has never really done anything dealing with hacks and roms in the past (other than the occasional MAME) so I dont think he would do that now.opticledilusi0n wrote:was this via usb loading ?

I'll definitely pick this up for the kids for Christmas. This will be one of the few exceptions to my rule of buying used.
I'm amazed at how quickly the scene group put up the release. Looks like it's because Australia (PAL) has a release date of today. For N.A, Sunday is the release date.

I have this pre-ordered from amazon... but I choose the free shipping so I'll probably get it a week after release.
