But don't forget, this is the best way to play translated games on real hardware. There's a long list of SNES that have been translated and this will allow you to play almost all of them.
I'd also like to point something out... This thing has leaps of storage for ROMs over any previously available flash cart or backup device. While it doesn't support any special chips other than the DSP1, you can still use it to play Star Ocean. There's a hack available that takes away the need for the S-DD1 chip which consequently makes the ROM size huge. Actually, it becomes 96Mbits if I remember correctly (which is way too big for ToToTEK's flash cart [which is why I got into making repros] and most backup devices without additional memory) but will fit on a CF card nicely.

Exactly!! I plan to get this to play a LOT of translated games, as well as a couple of hacks (Kaizo Mario World, anyone? ) But even then, I'd get the original SFC carts anyway for collecting purposes (and play them too, just for laughs and for challenge) and for morals, so I know I'll have the original carts when I'm playing the ROMs! Maybe, for just one or two games, I'd like to have the translation repro'ed onto the original cart, but for now, the PowerPak would be good enough!
Alright I caved, just purchased mine and it's in processing. Last time I ordered the NES Powerpak it did take longer than expected, maybe about 3 weeks or so, but then again I live in Canada so its expected. If anyone's on the fence about buying it, i'll let you know how it is when I receive mine. Though if it's anything like the NES one, it'll be amazing.
Looks great. Thanks so much for the heads up, RZ is not a site I check often.
I'm a bit torn. I've always thought these things give the best of both worlds -- all the games you want to download, but on the real hardware with a real controller on the TV of your choice. But still, I am a collector. I don't anyone thinks this would be a replacement for collecting -- as we've discussed MANY times before on this forum, collections and emu/ROMs are two different ends, two different itches to scratch.
It does seem expensive, but if you were to sell two or three collectible SNES RPGs you'd have the money and you could turn around just DL the ROMs.
My question as a total noob to emu scene: How hard are the ROMs to find, get and use?
The cart is good enough, but that incompatibility list is just too big and has too many games I want to play on it for me to consider this cart. Is it so much to ask for a flashcart that can play the translated Star Ocean?

The only games that are incompatible are games with special chips, and that IS too much to ask. If you're waiting for a flash cart that can overcome this, don't hold your breath.
As far as Star Ocean goes, I already posted in this thread about that...

I think it can, like Ziggy wrote above, it just has to be a certain ROM that takes away the need to use the S-DD1 chip. I don't know if that alters the game in anyway though, besides making the rom much larger.
