speaking of useless, can a beastmaster do anything? Doesn't seem like much.

Yes and no. You want a Beastmaster because it's really the only way to train your Blue Mage (Control the monsters to hit your Blue Mage with the attacks you want). Obviously they're only good in fights against monsters.

Agree, unless you are completest, you won't be using the beastmaster much and it is quite frustrating trying to learn blue mage abilities (even with the beastmaster at the side).

It also has the benefit of letting us use the Queen song Ogre Battle as the theme song of Togther Retro that month.

I'm about 30 hours into it. Does anyone know how to get the red mage to learn their magic? It is an awesome game. :)

This game is good until you beat about 200 missions. After that point I'd have to spend over an hour running around fighting old battles hoping that enemies would drop some meaningless item, so that I would have enough of an item to open the next mission. I really enjoyed the game, and even though I had beaten it I wanted to do all the missions, but it just got tedious and there was no payoff. If you beat all 300 mission you get Cid, but yeah, well at that point you've beaten all the missions, so not much point.

I almost don't care about beating it at all. It's just one of those super-fun relaxing zen-like games to play. For me it's up there with Galaga or Super Puzzle Fighter.

Same way you do all skills. Equip weapons. In Red Mage's case, rapiers.
