We should stereotype muslims - sarcasm fyi

Post by Jrecee »

Apparently.

I read this political section of a texas mustang forum from time to time for kicks (I don't post there!)

Truly unbelievable what some of these people say! Honestly I have never even had to urge to attempt to sign up and argue, I wouldn't know where to start.

I never realized how powerful the media can be until some one argued that,
Only when muslims kill , they blame the religion for it, if Jews/Christians/Atheist/Buddhist or any other belief commits a crime, its not because of it, he is just a bad person.

by the way, what does a redneck mean.
I always thought it was offensive but then people would tell me it actually means people who's skin is red, usually from south of USA. I see the term used a lot by people, but then I ask if I called one of them a "redneck" would he be upset, and they said yes. I don't get it, is it offensive or not?

Plenty of people self-identify as rednecks now. I think the literally red neck of a person working outside may be the origin, but now it refers to a culture. I'll leave the discussion of what constitutes that culture up to others. That said, I'm from Texas and have to agree that it astounds me what some people there seem to genuinely believe.

The term "redneck" is pejorative. However, it is only offensive to some and it is a badge of honor for others.

The term does initially come from red skin - as in sun burned skin from being outside often. Many farmers or other people who live/work in rural areas and do outside work get "red necks" due to the nature of their work.

Actually, you could learn all this and more from the Wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redneck

There are plenty of rednecks around where I live. You wouldn't believe how many rebel flags I see displayed either on bumper stickers, clothes, and even on flag poles.

And the whole "Its not hate, its heritage" is bull shit. My family is from Germany, I'm first generation. That would be like me flying a flag with a swastika on it at telling Jewish people, "Its not hate, its heritage".

Haha, funny that you linked to a xkcd comic of all things rather than say a Wikipedia article
