Another gameboy-related question

So I think we all know about saves getting screwed over with Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal due to battery failure. My question is- do ALL gameboy and gameboy color games have these internal batteries?

So what size batteries do they use? How would you replace them?

I'm under the impression that the batteries can be replaced.Though I've never done this myself. Anyone got a link to walkthru that they have found do-able?

I believe they have a cr2032, like damn near all videogame devices. But I will double check tonight.

To change them out you open up the cartridge, desolder/break the lead on the battery, solder in/tape in a new battery, and you are good to go. I know alot of folks will cry foul about taping a new battery, but Ive seen it done more than once. Its not the best method, but it works.

taping probably means less chance of killing the cart, too.

Yeah, I'd rather tape because everything I solder dies in a spectacular manner.

It really is a VERY simple procedure to do. Anyone know the general life span of said batteries? I know with pokemon gold/silver/crystal the batteries seem to give out around the 90 to 100 hr mark but what about blue? I recently restarted my blue game and am about 15 hrs into it. Id be pretty pissed if it gave out as I reached the elite 4
