Actually it's my identification of you... you're the guy with out a face. It's like an avatar in and of itself.Limewater wrote:All these comments by people saying they recognize people by their avatar makes me wonder if people skip my posts because I don't use one.
Downside to it is that if more people went with out avatars, I'd start getting lost if you and those others were posting in the same thread.
I like how Niode put it. I'm the same way IRL, I'm horrible with names. I can remember a face like no other, but a name... I'm screwed.
When it comes to names I have to relate it to a famous person to remember it. For instance, I meet a girl named Elizabeth, I imagine her dressed as a queen and never getting laid. Then I have a link of the image of their face, to the visuals of a famous historical person, to then the name.
This problem in itself has gotten me screwed on several occasions. For example I was once at a videogame shop years back (I'd say probably 8 or 9 years ago). I'd had my eye on a copy of Grandia (the first one) for quite sometime. And today I decided I would buy it. I walk up to the register with the game in hand and proceed to purchase it from the girl at the register.
cashier: "Hi... oh Grandia... weird choice."
me: "yeeah, I'm a big Saturn fan."
cashier: "Hey, wait, aren't you Dylan?"
me: "Ummmm."
cashier: "Yeah you're Dylan, the guy who wear's duct tape pants."
me: "Yeah, that'd be me."
cashier: "You can't buy this game, get out of my store."
me: ::wide eyed:: "excuse me!?"
cashier: "Yeah you broke my best friend INSERT HER NAME HERE 's heart."
For the life of me I did not know WHO the hell she was talking about. The name rang no bells (and I've since forgotten it). But I mean come on, how many Dylan's in duct tape pants who love the Saturn are running around my town in 2000?
The cashier girl went on into greater detail of the whole situation, and I was left befuddled. Unsure if she was just yanking my chain or what. For all I knew it could might as well been true. Who am I to say... I can't remember a name at all. Shit I can't remember yesterday half the time. I will say though, if I ever do meet this chick in question, I will be sure to get her name, and I will never forget it.

If I am not mistaken it is the main character from the Neverhood. Even if it is not that is who I am going to continue to say it is.

Nice detective work JT but I was looking for more detail than that. I'd have thought someone here might have recognised the charaterJ T wrote:That's funny, I also thought it was Lord of the Ringish looking.
