What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Just watched Shoot em up. I saw it when it first came out in the theater, but bought it for $5. Awesome movie.

I was born in '86, so I was basically a byproduct of the '90s.BoringSupreez wrote:People acting like the '90s are old always annoys me.Luke wrote:Apparently, movies from the 90's are old. Although, if you think about it, next year the '90s will be over a decade ago.
And FYI, Power Rangers has been around for 16 years. Had it not been for the fact that it's getting cancelled soon (Disney fucked it up), then in a year, it can go to England and get drunk and star in Equus. I'm kidding, of course. The show Powers has more sense than to get drunk.
Also, BH90210 ended in 2000 and in its spinoff, Kelly Taylor already has a freakin kid. And when America first met her, she was just another snotty LA rich girl. And 20 years later... she's grown up, had a kid, raises her half-sister (her mom married the dad of David Silver, the now-ex-husband of Donna Martin who now has a rug rat of her own), and is a guidance counselor at West Beverly and oh, my God I'm a dweeb.
Also, didn't watch Deep Red (damn Netflix didn't have the Blue Underground DVD or even the old Anchor Bay one and the one they had was pretty shitty).
Started watching Star Trek TOS. I don't like how the episodes are out of order on the DVD, though. Though I saw "Charlie X" again (first TOS episode I ever saw) and noticed how Charlie was supposed to be 17 but looked almost 30... and a bit like Will Forte.
Started the second disc of Season 1 last night and saw "The Naked Time". Two episodes left on that disc (each disc has only three episodes), and then discs 3 and 4. I think after Season 1, I'll take a hiatus and get some other movies, cuz I wanted to see Streets of Fire for a while.
I'm also thinking about getting into Bollywood films. Already recorded three off of IFC (every Sunday @10am, they play a Bollywood film).
And I'm already planning my Year's End movie marathon. I started it a couple of years ago with Dazed and Confused, Disturbia, The Number 23, and Hostel 2. Of course, I don't know if the video store will be closed on New Year's Day. And this year, I'm already eyeing Slumdog Millionaire and Milk. Basically, my Year's End movie marathon consists of films that I passed over many times over the year, or years, and rent 3-5 of them.

You could go the chronological route, or you could check out A DAY AT THE RACES. You really can't go wrong with Marx Bros. movies.Reverend wrote:I watched Duck Soup last night (finally). It was truly a masterpiece! Every one of Groucho's lines was beyond clever.
I'll be watching another one of their movies tonight. What else do you suggest?
I found Goats as a waste of a terrific cast. It was uninteresting, and not nearly as funny as the trailer made it out to be. Seeing Bridges playing "The Dude" again was awesome though.Ack wrote:I saw The Men Who Stare At Goats last night. Absolutely hilarious movie, I loved every minute of it.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
The reason I found Goats to be hilarious is because I know a lot of folks who do that kind of thing, and I actually know a good bit of how much of that story is actually true...and it really is more than you want to believe.

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan.. I didn't know I would lose my enthusiasm for BSG so fast. I was startled to discover EJO's a bit of a perv thanks to a certain shower scene

Koyaanisqatsi is also great. 1982 was one of those special Hollywood years.

I still need to see Naqoyqaatsi. Watching the rocket fall at the end of Koyaanisqatsi while the music tinkles along quietly at the end always gives me shivers. Great stuff. Which reminds me I still need to pick up the expanded rerelease of the soundtrack as I have the older chopped down version.Pulsar_t wrote:Koyaanisqatsi is also great. 1982 was one of those special Hollywood years.
*edit
Also now I feel the need to put the soundtrack in to listen to it right now.

My brothers had me watch the Ed Ed N Eddy movie with them. I must say, the show had turned to crap after it's first season or two, but this movie really was a blast form the past. I enjoyed it like I was a kid again and couldn't believe how the creators actually gave a happy ending for the three kids who always lost. It was a nice touch and left me happy to see characters that I grew up with finally succeed in the end.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I made the critical mistake of going into the movie with high expectations. That almost always makes the viewing a bust.Ack wrote:The reason I found Goats to be hilarious is because I know a lot of folks who do that kind of thing, and I actually know a good bit of how much of that story is actually true...and it really is more than you want to believe.

I last watched Ernest Scared Stupid. It's so purposefully bad, it's good.
