Game Disc Repair?

Not tried it myself, but heard Brasso can help revive a scratched CD. Might be worth trying it on a disk that isn't important?

Make friends with your local video rental store (independent if possible). There is a guy at my Hollywood Video (obviously not independent, but worked for me) who has similar taste in flicks, and one day I just asked him if I could use their disc repair machine on a few DC games. "I open at 10am, get here at 9:45am, you got 15 minutes to repair as many discs as you want".

I may have just gotten lucky, but it's always worth a try.

This is not a good idea as Brasso actually changes the chemical composition of the disc's plastic and will cause bit rot.

I have about 10 GameCube games I bought second hand and would like to polish or repair. I would buy more second hand games if I were certain I could repair them, so I'm thinking of buying a machine. Not one of the fast industrial ones but something somewhat good. Skip doctor and all those simple ones just make games look terrible. I saw the following one in Amazon and was wondering if anyone had any luck with one of these? Has anyone repaired a GameCube game? I know some machines will not work because of the size of the disc.

Looks like a good way to make games shine even if they are not in bad conditions... But it might be too good to be true.

Reviving an old thread here

I was at my local Play n Trade today and the owner was telling me about the new resurfacing machine they got not long ago. Unlike the ones that most places have that pretty much just buff the hell out the disc. This one uses a laser to cut a really thin layer off. I don't know if they're very common, he said it cost around $7000. But he showed me a disc from it, and it looks absolutely brand new.

Try this. Same basic principle of Plastic Polish can be used on CDs, and DVD Discs.

Blu-Ray's are very, VERY different on the bottom from normal discs and any polishing besides a soft rag will simply stretch and warp the gelatinous bottom layer of the disc and simply make it completely useless.

No worries, I've just seen some of these Blu-Ray discs come in wrecked at work from when people have tried to 'fix' them and want to prevent any possible mishaps.
