To cast magic, you need a catalyst. To use miracles, you need a talisman.

Is the catalyst obtainable relatively soon? I learned a spell, but it's just sitting there taunting me.

Never had much of a problem with the fire-breathing dragon. Then again, I'm a thief.

It seems like every time anybody complains about something difficult with this game, I usually didn't have a problem with it because I'm a thief. I didn't even have to take off all of my armor and crap to run fast enough to not get burnt by the dragon.

I have to disagree with you there (Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction).

The second dragon is meaner than the first. He killed me over and over until I finally got all the timings down (I'm at <50% equip).

Finally beat all the bosses yesterday. I did end up cheesing out on Old King Allant. I just didn't feel like dying again and again after dealing with the Blue Dragon.

Oooo baby. I beat Tower Knight earlier today, that was a rush. Got Armored Spider down too, but he wasn't too bad, just beat him down with a crossbow from far away. This game definitely has its hooks into me now.

Hurray! I beat it today! Just about the most...disappointing final boss ever though :( I'm going through on NG+ again, at least to see if I can get more trophies. I think I'll play through as a magic user someday as well.

Ugh, I just played for 90 minutes on the first level with a barbarian, and let's just say that I got as far as if I had not even turned the PS3 on. When I first bought the game a couple weeks back I started out as an archer and while I didn't complete the first level, I managed to get much farther than I did tonight and didn't die once. I ended up shutting it off at the time because I didn't like the mechanics of the bow and figured I'd try something else when I was done with U2.

Well I finished U2 the other day and wanted to try DS again. Man, I must be doing something incredibly wrong because I barely got to the first part of the interior "castle" on 1-1. I kept dieing, and I eventually ran so low on HP herbs and patience that I had to turn it off. I was trying to be careful and set myself up for timely attacks, but it seemed like every time I went to swing my club the enemy would get a slash in at the same time. I would kill one guy and need to heal to prepare for the next guy!

Please tell me there's something to look forward to. I realize I probably didn't pick the best equipped character, but for god's sake, there has to be some way for a barbarian to succeed in the early stages of the game....
