Puyo vs. Dr. Robotnik
Alright so I have Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine on the Sonic Mega Collection. Is there any reason to get Puyo Pop Fever? I mean, I've thought about getting the GBA version strictly for the portability, but are the two games really any different beyond that? Is there any reason to own the GC version of Puyo Pop Fever if I have Robotnik?

There may be some minor differences... but for the most part all I noticed was that Dr. Robotnik's mean bean machine is just different artwork.

If Puyo fever is just like every other Puyo game (which in my experience, they all are), then the differences are negligible. However, the older Puyo Puyos tended to have ludicrous drop speeds and AIs at higher levels.

I'm sure the gamecube version has different features or extra modes or something. But at the end of the day, everyone just goes back to the original tetris, no matter how many new modes they come out with. So Dr. robotnik is probably good enough.

Puyo Puyo Fever has a few key differences - the titular "Fever" mode for example, which makes a heck of a lot of difference in a fast paced game.
I quite like Fever myself. IMHO it's a definite improvement over the original Puyo Puyo / Mean Bean Machine (which I first played on Super Famicom and in arcades).

I used to feel that way until I discovered Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. Definitely my favorite puzzler now.Jrecee wrote:I'm sure the gamecube version has different features or extra modes or something.
