Last semester of college

Post by PGchris »

I have twelve credits, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, less than a month and a half left, and yet I couldn't be more unmotivated. I'm just so sick of the same annoying little assignments that mean nothing to me, that I let hang over my head till the last minute and then about two hours before class while half awake I bullshit something together so I can get my B-. Sorry if this is a little dramatic but I'm just trying vent, anyone else struggling through senioritis?

I'm signing up for my last semester this week, and I have 13 credits left to take - however 7 of these are free electives, which are basically gimmes. I can not stand to wait any longer, but in 6 short months I will be done...I have no plans (nor finances) to go back to grad school, so this will be the last year of school ever for me. It feels strange saying that...I've been going to school for 16 years, and I have never done anything else, but now I can finally move on with my life... :)

Two of my classes are pretty much gimmies but the other two are rough. One is my senior seminar in which I have to write a 50+ page research paper and then give a big speech about it in front of the history department professors. The other is my upper level english credit, technical writing, and right now I'm doing a huge paper on styrofoam...fucking styrofoam. I hate college.

I had similar feeling when I was in college,
fed up, unmotivated, just want to get over and done with.

Now that I am done,
it has been 2.5 years doing nothing. No that I can't find a job, just that I don't know what to do with my life.

I'm about three/four credits or so short of getting a transferable associates degree in general studies. It's cool to know I'm not the only on who feels a strong sense of stupidity and pointlessness.

I just finished this past May. You'll make it just put whatever focus you have into the important stuff, like that senior seminar, sounds like that's pretty important. Beyond that though, hopefully you've done well the semesters before this one so that way your GPA can't be hurt too much even if you slip at bit at the end.

As many of the seniors at my university said, "D for diploma!"

And "D" for dead-end job when you're done.

Don't feel bad, I'm in my last semester of working towards my Masters, and I'm feeling so burned out it isn't funny, but I'm doing my best to get all the work done. I'm also supposed to be looking for a job, but I haven't got much time to do it and I'm worried about the next sixth months because my lease doesn't end until July, which means I've got to come up with $400 a month or find someone to rent my apartment, which I don't think is likely due to where I live.

On top of that, when my lease expires is the same time that my student loans become due.

Cue dramatic music.

Yikes Ack, hope that goes well. I wrapped up my MBA in 07' and remember receiving my first student loan bill like it was yesterday. It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Because of the degree or the low GPA? Though I agree it's not the best attitude to have about school if your GPA is good going into the last semester you can still finish very well. I never had any Ds in school, my last semester wasn't my best but I still graduated with a 3.7 so I can't complain.
