Dude, WHAT?
You cannot compare Twilight to Escape from NY, even though Kojima is a huge fan of both (EfNY was insperation to the MG games).
Theres 2 big differences between the 2, one being Kurt Russel taking names and the other, emo vampires...
I say who gives a fuck if kojima likes twilight. It doesnt impact his game/story making abilities so whatever. Everyone has their guilty pleasures (even if kojima isnt neccessarily guilty about his) and we shouldnt suddenly change our respect for someone due to them.

I bought every episode of Full House on dvd, in a collector's case. I guess it's my guilty pleasure. I think it's the best/worst sitcom of all time.
Plus, hate to break it to some people, but I would guess the majority of people who don't game consider gamers as nerds. So I completely agree with toredauei, who gives a flying dog terd what Kojima likes? Doesn't change that the guy pumps out some incredible games and story lines.

Orson Scott Card is noted for some of his political views that many don't agree with. Does that mean that suddenly Ender's Game sucks?

I know that a lot of people hate Twilight because "It's teh gay", but that isn't why I'm cringing at the thought of Kojima enjoying it. If Kojima had said he was a huge fan of Strawberry Shortcake, Rainbow Brite or something, I would just laugh and say "Oh, that eccentric Kojima!"
The thing is, Twilight is trashy pop lit. I can force myself to accept that Yoshiyuki Sadamoto likes it - I mean, he's just an artist. He should know about good literature, but he at least doesn't know about it first hand. Kojima, on the other hand, should know trash when he sees it.
So, unless English works gain something in translation much like how Japanese works loose something in the process - and those things are characterization, cohesion, plot, well-written dialog and the ability to suspend your disbelief - it just becomes hard to see how anyone could fall for it.
I also still have a vendetta against the series for single-handedly ruining the vampire mythos. Meyer has turned what used to be the most bad-ass and feared creatures of the night into tree-climbing, sparkle-radiating, overly-melodramatic boy toys.

Anne Rice started the fire. Meyer just fueled it.
