What was the last movie you've seen?

As a professor, I get emails almost every year about what college freshman know and not. It always makes me feel old:

Highlights from this year:

* A freshmen just starting college in the fall of 2009 was probably born in 1991. The Simpsons have been on TV for their entire life. Kurt Cobain has been dead for their entire life. The Soviet Union has never existed.

* They have never used typewriters.

* They don’t remember a time when a Bush or a Clinton was not representing America to the world in some capacity, and they don’t care.

Of course these lists piss me off b/c they are grossly inaccurate. e.g. Cobain died in 1994, not 1991. Nevermind predates them, though.

Yeah, I was thinking about that earlier today. One day I may be counted as one of only a handful of humans born before the fall of the Berlin Wall. As it is, my youngest brother was born after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The idea of the Cold War must seem like a relic to him, yet to me it was very important, being born into a military family in the middle of the Reagan administration.

Yeah, now I'm kinda wondering if we've got any Fords, or maybe even a Nixon or two. I kinda doubt anybody here's parents went all the way during LBJ though.

God, after reading through those lists even I feel old just because I actually know what they're talking about. Sort of how I'll sometimes make weird and obscure 80's-90's references whenever I'm with friends only to have them look at me like I'm crazy.

It's like when the N64 turned 10 in 2006. I remember looking over at that console and just kept thinking how quickly the time had gone by since I used to stop at our local K-Mart's electronics department and play the demo kiosk for hours and hours like there was no tomorrow.

Damn it all to hell I feel artificially old.....
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

Hey everyone. I'm going to try to go into the School of Visual Arts Summer PreCollege program for film production. In order to qualify for financial aid (which I desperately need), I need to write an essay on a movie that has significantly impacted my life.

I've decided that I'll write about a Marx Brothers movie, as they were the films that really started my love of cinema. I'm just not sure which movie to write about. I'll be marathoning their movies this weekend to decide, but I would like to know what you think.

Duck Soup would be the obvious choice, but I would go with A Day at the Races.
If you haven't already, read Groucho and Me, it's incredible. Julius "Groucho" Marx lived a sad life.

I just watched the ewok adventures on a vhs tape I found at the thrift store. It was far worse than I could have ever imagined.
