Sorry man, but the only TV's with zero lag are CRT's. Plus how are they silly? CRT's (AKA Tubes) are the same type of tech used all through the 90's for SDTV and for a little while it was the predominate HDTV display tech until Plasmas and LCD's fell below the 1k-2k mark.okonomiyaki wrote:Maybe someone can help by being more specific.
Cost is not an issue. Size is not an issue either. I don't mind pixels either.
I just want a good TV that has ZERO lag so that my pressing of buttons on a controller will cause an instant action on screen. Are all new plasma/lcd tvs flawed by having some sort of lag? that just sounds rediculous if there's no 'perfect' gaming tv out there...
I think using a CRT would just be silly.
I don't need the tv to do any crazy filtering or upscaling etc, I just want ZERO lag, I'm not a perfect image quality whore, but no lag, no lag, no lag.
Suggestions?
Thanks people!!
Good CRT's (Sony, Samsung, Toshiba etc...) will give you a sharp pixel perfect image with zero lag as CRT's actually have no native resolution. The electron gun in tubes that creates the image you see on the screen can focus the beam of electrons at different wavelengths which creates the image on screen at a higher or lower resolution and allows a tube to display a multitude of resolutions natively without lag or filtering. Plus CRT's can produce true blacks with 100% accurate contrast and much richer colors that beats out any image produced by a modern LCD or Plasma display.
It's the same reason CRT PC monitors "Click" when you change resolutions as the electron gun refocuses to give you an accurate and pixel perfect image at a new native resolution based on your settings.
All new TV's besides CRT's have lag, why? Well all new TV's are Digital meaning that everything needs to go through a multitude of filters before you see it to clean up the image and apply AA/AF to smooth out defects shown by images at such high resolution as well as having problems interacting with the random Analog inputs of a human player in a videogame as these inputs then need to be converted from Analog to Digital numerous times before they reach the screen you see.
It's just how it is man, either you get a slim new TV and endure lag or you get a good HD/SD-CRT and enjoy lag free gaming but at the cost of the bit of bulk and weight that just comes with the CRT territory.
