I liked the original DS regardless of it's screens due to it's ruggedness and the much more tactile and responsive D-Pad when compared to the later DS Lite/DSi ones prone to jamming on diagonals and rotations.
Do it! The DS is one of my favorite systems ever. Do yourself a favor and get the CycloDS with it as well.

I've owned a DS (And a DS Lite) several times before and was meaning to get a DSi when it came out via the $70 bonus credit on it when I traded-in my DS Lite, but I ran into some money troubles and had to cancel my order thus being left DS-less.

Anyhow I don't do flash cards, I'm VERY against piracy of an existing and or in production system. Unless it's old and not easily accessible (Sega CD, extremely expensive imports etc...) I own the real deal.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

So don't put any DS stuff on it. I have an R4 and only have 16 and 8 bit stuff on there, no GBA or later. Heck, I own a lot of the games that I end up playing off of it. Ones I don't are probably on my want list. :)

Yeah same here. I really only use my CycloDS for stuff that I already own on the NES or Genesis. It's just nice to be able to play them on a portable. :D

Agreed, but I've got Nomads and portable Famiclones for that. I'm one of those guys that will use original official or clone hardware until they can't find any more.

I reserved mine at a local game store. The funny thing they asked is "Would you like to trade in your DS system for credit towards the new one?"

I just said "No". Then as I walked out the store, it hit me. These people assumed I already own a DS. They were right, but that is the mentality in Japan I guess. If you don't own a DS, you are out of the loop.
