Possible FF7 glitch??

Post by PGchris »

Ok I haven't played this game in a while but I've never heard of any glitches in the game but something has happened thats left me stuck in the Shinra HQ building pretty early on in the game. So I just got captured and I'm sitting in Shinra jail and when I get out there is blood everywhere and I'm supposed to go up to floor 69 but I can't open any of the doors, am I just being stupid and I forgot some little step to get all those keycards back or what? I havent seen anything like that in any walkthroughs someone help me out.

Edit: Just reread that and realized I wasn't being super specific about where I am in the game so heres a vid that shows the spot I'm stuck at...can't get up to floor 69!

I'm unfamiliar with yours, but my copy of FFVII has a CRAZY glitch. Upon meeting Aeries very early on in the game and trying to escape the chapel (if I'm remembering correctly) at one point the screen suddenly goes black when I try to enter a new area. The music continued playing though, so I figured it wasn't exactly frozen.

I was, obviously, horrified since I had bought the game new and it didn't do this to me on my first play through (I had stopped mid game and was now playing through with a friend). I tried ejecting the disc, cleaning it, and reinserting it. I tried turning the console off and continuing from a prior save point. I even tried rotating the PS2. NOTHING WORKED. Then one time, as a sort of joke, when we ejected the first disc I inserted the second.............. and it worked. The game played just fine. It really freaked the hell out of me. When we got to the point where we needed to "Insert Disc Number 2" we just opened and closed the drive and it played without a problem. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIRD.

If anyone has an explanation, I'd love to hear it.

It's probably that there is some bad data on that part of disc 1, but not on the other discs. The other discs have to have a lot of redundant data, just so you don't have to switch discs out constantly everytime you back-track to an old area.

If I remember correctly, you need to go to the second level where the cat-thing is.

Ah, that would make sense. I couldn't figure out why they would have old data on the second disc, but duh - backtracking. Thanks  .

Are you talking about Red XIII? At this point hes already in my party. I'm at the part where you wake up out of jail and everyone is dead but when I try to go upstairs where the trail of blood leads the doors won't open for me.

Try the other door. As I recall their are two doors for the stairwell, and I think one is locked. The other thing is that you might have to use the elevator you took to get to Red XIII the first time. I can't remember since it's been so long.

The same thing happened with my copy of FFVII, except it happened at the end of the second reactor, when Cloud gets a flashback, the screen turns black, and the music keeps playing. I never got it to work.

In case someone else looks this thread up, before you start over only to encounter the same problem like me; try walking through the blood trail UNDER the cat walk...
