What Is The Best Versions of Bomberman?

Post by racketboy »

My obvious choice is Saturn Bomberman.
It still had the 2D graphics (which I felt led to more precise and quick control) and had support for a ton of human players.

Bomberman Online (Dreamcast) had some great modes on it, but I just didn't like the 2.5D feel to it.

For some reason, I've had a sweet spot for Bomberman 2 on the NES. That was the first one I played when I used to emulate it on my laptop and play against my then-fiance when I was in college.

But for all I know, some of the SNES versions or something are better than those on the NES.

I really look forward to seein how Bomberman Live (XBox Live Arcade) turns out.

Any Bomberman experts here who want to share their opinion?

I view best by the amount of fun Ive had with them. So:
1. Bomberman DS - single cart eight player multiplayer, the ultimate confriendly pick up and play.
2. Atomic Bomberman - one of my friends favorite games, we play it in his memory every Tigerlan.
3. Saturn Bomberman - mainly because I have only played it four player.

Though I have a team of coders kinda working on converting the opensource bomberman clone to allow 15-30 players, dual screen, and possibly other game types. Though I have no idea when they will be done.

My 2nd fav Bomberman after Saturn Bomberman would have to be Bomberman '93 on the PCE, and after that the very original Bomberman on PCE.

Bomberman 5 (JPN) on SNES was fantastic. It's one of my personal favorites because I was able to get five players playing at once... One of my absolute favorites. Bomberman Generation is also pretty sweet, but its basically a touched up Bomberman 5 in english with only 4 players. I'm going to be trying out Saturn Bomberman and Bomberman Jetters this week to see how they are.

Bomberman Online was kind of disappointing for me. I got it just after it went offline, so maybe that was its redeeming quality, but I have a hard time getting into it.
