S.T.A.L.K.E.R on Steam - moddable?
Steam are currently selling S.T.A.L.K.E.R for $5, which is a brilliant deal. Does anyone have any idea whether this version is compatible with the fan-generated mods?
Mostly harmless

Yes, it is - I bought the Steam version yesterday and succesfully installed the 'Stalker Complete 2009' graphical upgrade mod;

Awesome.
Obviously I still get ripped off for being European and I have to pay 5 euros instead of 5 dollars...

I just picked this up at Microcenter, and I don't think my rig can pull off the update...but that sky look GORGEOUS!Bootaaay wrote:Yes, it is - I bought the Steam version yesterday and succesfully installed the 'Stalker Complete 2009' graphical upgrade mod;

Hmm...I wish I could mix this mod with the Oblivion Lost mod that upped the game difficulty. Monsters get more health, anomalies migrate around, night time is pitch black, the Blowout occurs randomly and will kill almost anything outside when it occurs, there are far more monsters and they will move around, including attacking cities, Controllers turn NPCs into zombies to fight for them...it's awesome.

I'm in the middle of trying out LURK, which has similar graphical updates but also has balance changes reminscent of Oblivion Lost. Of course, I need to get past the bandit camp first. One of the biggest changes is that enemies don't auto-see you anymore, so I can't just lure the miltary patrol to the newbie camp and take their AKs anymore. They hear the gunshot, scatter, but can't find me since I"m too far away.

Can't you do both? I think a friend of mine either installed both or found a dual mod...Ack wrote:Hmm...I wish I could mix this mod with the Oblivion Lost mod that upped the game difficulty. Either way, I actually prefer the 2009 mod over oblivion lost.

I tried the update, and I can run it pretty well, but I need to overclock my 4870 badly...problem is stock cooler sucks. I have a few ideas for mods, but until then it will have to do.Metalcrack wrote:I just picked this up at Microcenter, and I don't think my rig can pull off the update...but that sky look GORGEOUS!
