I do have to agree with you on this point. Mandatory demos was one thing that Microsoft did right with their service.lisalover1 wrote:I like XBLA better than PSN, one of the biggest reasons being that XBLA has demos for every game that comes out, but there's barely any info on anything being sold on PSN. On PSN, you feel LUCKY to find a demo.

Re: Question For Those Who Own Both a 360 and PS3
LOL, the two things I really hate about the DualShock are the triggers and the charging system. I would so much rather swap batteries from my own charger than have to plug the controller in ONLY while the system is turned on. If there's a main power switch on the back of the PS3, why can't it charge the controllers while in standby? Argh.NeoTechni wrote:I buy everything for PS3.
-I can do whatever I want with the save games, ie: transfer to/from USB drives/flash cards
-My PS3 hard drive is larger, and easily/cheaply upgradeable which is far better for DLC/etc
-I prefer PS3's controller (360's triggers are painful, the battery packs and charging method suck), and that it lets me use any USB HID complaint controller/bluetooth headset/etc
-The hardware is more durable/reliable, and overheats far FAR less, and gives you a warning in advance where 360 just freezes.
-I prefer PS3s's trophy system to 360's achievements
-I prefer the way the PSN store handles money to MS's point system
-I prefer free multiplayer, Live doesn't offer enough that PSN doesn't to be worth paying for
-I've had 360 games (ie: Fable 2) that kept freezing unless I installed it to the harddrive.
-I bought the Gears of War II collector's edition, and it came with french bonus material. I went to MS's site they set up to apply for an english copy sent out, it took 9 months and me pestering Epic constantly to finally get it. The Fable II collector's edition not only got crippled down to almost nothing, but the download codes didnt come with it. I had to apply for them to be sent out too. At least when I buy a PS3 collector's edition, what's promised to come with it actually comes with it!

But on the plus side, you don't have to spend the 20$ for the ability to recharge with the ps3.RadarScope1 wrote: I would so much rather swap batteries from my own charger than have to plug the controller in ONLY while the system is turned on. Re: Question For Those Who Own Both a 360 and PS3
Here are the main factors I consider:
1 - I get rhythm games for PS3 because that is the system I have all of the instrument controllers for.
2 - Are there any major differences/deficiencies in the games on a system? Ex: I got Ghostbusters fox Xbox. This is the thing I consider first and foremost
3 - What exclusive material is available? Ex: Joker content on Batman: Arkham Asylum sold me on the PS3 version.
4 - My friends are pretty split on who has which system, so if its a game my friends who have xbox tend to like (mostly the madden crowd,) i will get the game for that system. Same for PS3.
5 - All other things equal I get the PS3 version because I much prefer the controller.

You realize you can plug a PS3 controller into any powered USB socket, right? Such as the USB on your computer.RadarScope1 wrote:LOL, the two things I really hate about the DualShock are the triggers and the charging system. Re: Question For Those Who Own Both a 360 and PS3
You know it would have been cool to at least see a wired controller for the PS3 like Microsoft did for the 360, I'm a fan of wired stuff (It' my penchant for having a catlike yarn attraction to cabled controllers brought on by my love of all things retro.) for some applications and wireless for others. I don't need wireless in the room where I'd put my 360 when I get one so it's nice to be able to play endlessly without ever having to change batteries, then be able to switch to a wireless pad if I move to the living room where cord can become an issue or trip hazard during gameplay.MrPopo wrote:You realize you can plug a PS3 controller into any powered USB socket, right? Plus the PS3 controller's USB cable has the annoying habit of popping out from the controller at every possible moment whenever I'm playing as it charges so I really would have at least liked an official fully wired option.

PS3 accepts any standard USB HID compliant controller. You can find hundreds it'll take. Far cheaper than wired 360 controllers too.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote: You know it would have been cool to at least see a wired controller for the PS3 like Microsoft did for the 360
As for 360's triggers, they are too thin. They put too much pressure in a small space, giving you something that used to be called Crazy Taxi finger, but is now called Gears of Sore.

I use my USB saturn pad on my ps3. it kicks ass for fighting games.
Re: Question For Those Who Own Both a 360 and PS3
Any one who buys ps3 AND 360 must be a hardcore gamer because the games are 95% are the same.
But usually the 360 versions are better with better graphics(its probably a tiny fraction better, but it is!).
Its preference choice, I rather buy 360 but ps3 is what I recommend .
ps3=
*Free online
*No waste on batteries for controller
*Free Bluray player
*plays ps1 games(big advantage)
*Hardware that does NOT malfunction
and more...
but personally I like the 360 controller and the exclusives, because I rather play Halo, Gears, and Fable than GT, Little Big Planet, and Resistance .
Only few exclusive I would like to play on ps3 like God of War, Uncharted, and Demon's soul.

Re: Question For Those Who Own Both a 360 and PS3
Technically, not a free blu-ray player, Sony factor this into the price. Without the Blu-ray drive the PS3 would cost less (MUCH LESS), simple as. The hardware does malfunction. It's getting to the point where it's almost as bad as the 360. Failure rates are creeping up, especially on the older models.kingmohd84 wrote: ps3=

The 360 controller is superior for a lot of games, especially driving games. The PS3's triggers are just strange, why are they convex? There are certain types of games that the PS3 controller excels at too but for some reason the vast majority of them tend to feel better with the 360 pad. I can't play fps/3ps on any console though, I have to play them on a PC so I don't factor in these types of games in my analysis.
Regarding the batteries in the PS3, I find them incredibly inconvenient. What happens if you haven't played your PS3 in a long while (happens all the time with me) and the batteries drain themselves? I've either got to sit right in from of the console because none of my USB cables are long enough to reach to my sofa (you just don't tend to get long USB cables free with stuff and it never occurs to just buy a 3m one) or I have to sit and wait for the controllers to charge on my laptop/PC. I just shove them in my 360 and play that for a while and completely forget about playing my PS3. Half the time it's spending hours on end updating/downloading/installing crap anyway. Sometimes I don't know why I bother switching my PS3 on, just to be greeted by screen after screen of updates and installing content.
The PS3 has some really awesome ideas like the universal USB HID, so I can use my arcade stick without having to buy another one specifically for that console, and the bluetooth headsets. Then it goes and ruins these good ideas by plaguing you with inconveniences like the 20-30 minute download of new system updates, then 10-15 minute install of said updates. Then you go and play a game and lo and behold, that's got an update too, so I have to sit another 10 minutes will it downloads a measly 60MB update (which should not take this long over a wired connection and 20mbps internet) and then another 10 minutes while it installs. By this time I've flipped the channel over and started playing my 360, Oh there's an update for this game I want to play, 'accept' 10 seconds wait, reboot game, 15 seconds loading. Oh I'm in the game, why isn't the PS3 like this?!
