need some advice on this purchase

So, I have found final fantasy 7 in good condition black label for $40 on craigslist, should I go for it? What exactly makes it so good that I can't just buy 8 and 9 brand new for the same price? I am thinking of getting it since it looks to be a decent price (the guy has good prices on all his stuff) I just wanted to see what you guys thought.

Well the black label copy is of course the original print of the game, while the green greatest hits label was produced a little after and I believe they made more copies of the greatest hits version.

It all comes down to this: if you are a collector and think the price is reasonable, pick it up. If you just want to play the game, and can find ANY copy cheaper, then don't buy it.

It's all a matter of personal opinion, really.

I like to consider myself both, I much prefer having the original run, but also like playing the game. Is it really as good as people say?

Alright, I thought so. I looked it up and it looks like it is about $10-$20 less than the internet price.

I have 6/3 and love it ($5, also from craigslist) I am just skeptical that any RPG can really top Persona 3 FES. I think I will give it a try.

I agree with the above post. If you really want to play it, the game itself is worth 40$. If you're not going to play it immediately you could probably wait and find another one. If you get the black label one you could sell it again if you don't like it for about the same as what you paid. If you only want to play it, you can just look for a cheaper greatest hits version. If you don't care about the physical copy, you could just buy it off psn for even cheaper. (if you have a ps3/psp of course). If you just scour craigslist everyday then you can probably find it for a lot cheaper. For 80$ I got a fat ps2 with mint/sealed copies of Resident Evil 1-4, veronica, FF 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, and 10-2 all black label (except for directors cut of re 1 and anthology). I have found 2 other black label copies for friends off craigslist for under 20$. If you wait, you'll eventually stumble on someone who just wants to get rid of their stuff and don't' care about selling it for collectors prices.

Yikes! I bought my black label PAL (European) copy for about 15€ (20$) a year or so ago... I thought the American version had a larger print run than here, or maybe I was just lucky.

So glad I got mine for my birthday back in the day. I would wait. Everytime I buy something off c list a little while latter I find someone selling it for cheaper.
