I tend to get most multi-platform games on the 360 due to it being the lead development platform most of the time. However I will make exceptions if the PS3 version offers certain benefits, or if the controller is better suited for the experience (IE fighting games).

I also own a gaming rig (Q6600 @ 3.2GHz + HD4870) so I have a third platform to consider. It just depends. Generally I will go for the cheapest version, but I will always buy FPS, RTS, W-RPG on PC, Driving, Adventure, Sports games on 360 and fighting games on PS3. Purely because the controllers for each system are suited specifically for the those games.

Sometimes if the PC version has superior graphics or in the rare event that the PS3 has better graphics such as Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 then I will go for that option but generally will just take the 360 version most of the time.

How ironic that the PS3 is the system people go to for 2D Fighting games, considering the PS1 was the system that killed 2D Fighting games in the first place.

I don't have either console, but I that doesn't seem to be a huge gap between versions these days (even the gap between, say, Bayonetta 360 and Bayonetta PS3 comes down to a few graphical differences). I mean, it's not for the multiplatform games that I'll pick up one or another console.

I remember in the 32-bit days when I made my cousin buy X-men vs. Street Fighter on his Saturn because I hated the game on my Playstation.

I buy everything on the PS3. I don't pay for Live on principle, and I'm not a huge fan of the 360 controller. It's not a bad controller, but I prefer the PS3 controller. But I will get a game on PC if it's one of the traditional PC genres.

I can't see getting two versions of sparkster in this day. Actually, I can't figure out why the hell they even did it back then. . . not that I'm complaining.

I also break it down for each title.

Online play? - I have 5 times as many friends with PS3, so if it's got any major online components, PS3 is my first choice. Also, I don't like to pay for Xbox gold anymore.

Controller? - I'm really picky about my controllers and FPS feels better on 360 (thank you Dreamcast design), while I prefer PS controllers for almost everything else (thank you SNES), especially when using the D-pad. I use a usb arcade stick that is incompatible with my 360, so that plays in as well.

Exclusive content? - 360 very often gets demos and DLC before PS3. If you're patient, this isn't such a big deal as most things seem to eventually make it to the PSN. I am not so patient however.

The other really nice thing about the PS3 controller is that they didn't label their buttons as ABXY. Since the 360 and Dreamcast controllers use a different arrangement of buttons it always takes me half a second to remember where a particular button is, thanks to over a decade of SNES playing. With the Playstation controller you've got the four shapes, so there's no confusion.

I buy everything for PS3.

-I can do whatever I want with the save games, ie: transfer to/from USB drives/flash cards
-My PS3 hard drive is larger, and easily/cheaply upgradeable which is far better for DLC/etc
-I prefer PS3's controller (360's triggers are painful, the battery packs and charging method suck), and that it lets me use any USB HID complaint controller/bluetooth headset/etc
-The hardware is more durable/reliable, and overheats far FAR less, and gives you a warning in advance where 360 just freezes.
-I prefer PS3s's trophy system to 360's achievements
-I prefer the way the PSN store handles money to MS's point system
-I prefer free multiplayer, Live doesn't offer enough that PSN doesn't to be worth paying for

-I've had 360 games (ie: Fable 2) that kept freezing unless I installed it to the harddrive.
-I bought the Gears of War II collector's edition, and it came with french bonus material. I went to MS's site they set up to apply for an english copy sent out, it took 9 months and me pestering Epic constantly to finally get it. The Fable II collector's edition not only got crippled down to almost nothing, but the download codes didnt come with it. I had to apply for them to be sent out too. At least when I buy a PS3 collector's edition, what's promised to come with it actually comes with it!

I buy everything except PS3 exclusives for my 360. I like XBLA better than PSN, one of the biggest reasons being that XBLA has demos for every game that comes out, but there's barely any info on anything being sold on PSN. On PSN, you feel LUCKY to find a demo. I prefer the PS3's analog sticks and D-pad, but don't like the rest of the controller.
