Re: New Nintendo DS to be Powered by Nvidia?
Update on the "new" DSi:
According to Joystiq, the Japanese publication Nikkei is reporting that Nintendo has plans to release a new version of the DSi with larger screens; replacing the old 3.25" screens with slightly larger 4" screens. The Japanese publication also reports that the new system will replace the current DSi, and is scheduled for release in Japan later this year. So far, there are no plans to release the updated handheld outside of Japan.
If the report from Nikkei is true, this will be the fourth time Nintendo has decided to remodel the DS system. It may seem odd for Nintendo to remodel their duel-screen handheld yet again, but according to Joystiq, Nikkei is pretty good at making predictions, "It's previously made shocking claims like the announcement of a DS system with a camera and music playback functions, and a Nintendo/Dentsu video
service."

Re: New Nintendo DSi to be Powered by Nvidia and be Remodel?
i'd really like to see a new "Gameboy" before another DS revision. Does anyone remember the whole thing that the DS was just a bridge untill the next Gameboy came out? I forgot where i heard that. this was way back when the DS launched.

It's not a replacement for the current DSi, it's already been confirmed that this is a new DSi that stands along the existing SKU's and features larger screens and larger buttons to cater to the rapidly growing elderly demographic in Japan that likes big screens and buttons on all of their electronics.

I still have to buy a DS lite. I want to play GBA games, I could care less about the camera, but I think having WiFi would be great too.
Thanks everyone...

All versions of the DS have built in Wi-Fi.Gnashvar wrote:I still have to buy a DS lite. I want to play GBA games, I could care less about the camera, but I think having WiFi would be great too.

Yup, they're all pretty robust and featured machines.Gnashvar wrote:I was not aware of that. I honestly prefer the original Launch model DS above any other model before or since, it has great battery life, a comfortable size with a good amount of heft (But not too much!), loud and clear speakers for when gaming in noisy environments, tactile and responsive buttons that are just as sensitive as you want them to be (None of the diagonal jam-up's that are prone to occur on the DS Lite or DSi's D-Pads.), a footprint that allows you to fully insert GBA games or the Rumble pack flush to the system's underbelly, compatibility with older chargers for the GameBoy Advance, what I find seems to be a crisper headphone out, a sharper LCD (Albeit much more dim than that of the DS Lite or DSi.) and is available in several different colors (US Colors: Silver, Blue, Red (Mario Kart Version), Turquoise (Nintendogs Version); Japan Colors: White (Final Fantasy Version), Pink, Turquoise, Silver, Blue, Red, Black, Orange, Green) to suit your preference and is region free just like the DS Lite and DSi.
All models of the DS will play all DS games minus games which are marked as DSi ONLY. DSi ONLY games can utilize the DSi's extra ram, Camera's and other features such as the SD-Card slot for added functionality over the original DS and DS Lite, but I don't honestly see the DSi ONLY genre expanding outward much as developers would have to lose a significant amount of revenue by making the game accessible to only DSi owners which represent only a tiny percentage of actual DS system owners.
There are DS games that are coming out with added features when played in a DSi (Zelda Spirit tracks will make use of the cameras), but otherwise are fully compatible with all current DS system models.

Not yet, but the first DSi ONLY game in the US is going to be some crappy lightgun style tap and shoot game (Like Touch The Dead, except not good) made by Majesco that simple lets the DSi's camera stream it's viewfinder as a backdrop for pre-defined enemy layouts and is aimed at a market of 5 year olds.Gnashvar wrote:Thanks for the info. Sooo, yeah. Not really anything to run out and buy, and I'm using it as way to foresee how the DSi ONLY software will probably pan out.

There was a shmup that is DSi only, but it probably will never see the light of day outside of Japan.
