Demon's Souls looks fun
Re: Demon's Souls looks fun
So how does this differ from other games of its ilk? I find games like God of War or Infamous to be completely humdrum. The videos for this seem similar, in that it's a lot of close range, third-person combat. Do the difficulty and other elements really set it apart? My PS3 is busted at the moment anyway, but if I can fix it I'm curious whether I should give this a try or whether it's yet another game where my expectations will be set too high by the hype.

This game has been absolutely fabulous so far. It is difficult (considered old school in it's difficulty). However with that comes a sense of satisfaction with accomplishing anything. The graphics are very well done. As far as hack and slash RPG fare goes this game is an easy 8/10. Definitely worth checking out for any RPG fan. As far as being compared to any other games of it's kind...it is closer to Oblivion than God of War. It is a nice feather in the cap for Sony as far as exclusives go.

Its like oblivion but WAY faster...and WAY harder. I love it...I just wanted to know if anyone was even close to beating the beast

I'm stuck on the false king...the fact that he can de-level you is COMPLETE BULLSHIT.
Re: Demon's Souls looks fun
The false king is indeed a bitch, but personally I found the best way to beat him was to remove all my armor and dodge like a madman - he telegraphs all his moves, so after a few goes you should be able to see exactly what he's planning and dodge past him, just make sure you don't get stuck with your back against a wall.

There are sploits to had with it, however. Reminds me of the Mind Flayers in Final Fantasy Tactics, and how a lot of people worked out de-leveling sploits with them.dlmvii wrote:I'm stuck on the false king...the fact that he can de-level you is COMPLETE BULLSHIT.
Also, I've been playing this game since it came to America. Thus far, I haven't played any other games with the exception of a small round of Audio Surf and Critter Crunch. (Also gotta test out this copy of Nanatsu Kaze no Shima Monogatari I just got today.) Thus far, Demon's Souls has made this gen worth it.

Yeah, since False King hits like a truck and telegraphs like crazy you definately want to get your equip weight down to 50% of the max for the fast dodge speed. Also make sure you're running a good shield. He's pretty susceptable to the thief ring, so you can use that to get in some backstabs as well.Bootaaay wrote:The false king is indeed a bitch, but personally I found the best way to beat him was to remove all my armor and dodge like a madman - he telegraphs all his moves, so after a few goes you should be able to see exactly what he's planning and dodge past him, just make sure you don't get stuck with your back against a wall.
