How can a game just released be on the list. I thought the Japanese had better taste in RPGs. The list is pretty much just newer releases if you count the DS remakes.
To be fair, Chrono Trigger and DQV were remade, but DQIII wasn't (not that I'd complain if it was!)

Ah yes, I forgot that Chrono Trigger was remade. That probably accounted for most of its votes.

I get the feeling the audience asked had an average age of 15.

I did say pretty much, but Dragon Quest III was remade in 2000 for the GBC and will be remade again for mobile phones. I would say Final Fantasy VII is the only one older than 9 years as it hasn't been remade yet, I wonder why.

PSN. Anyone with a PS3 or PSP can play Final Fantasy VII for dirt cheap now.

Its still the original though. There are a lot of other RPGs on the PSN but those aren't up there on the list.

There seems to be a problem with your list sire.

there is no Skies of Arcadia, Panzer Dragoon Saga, SHin Megami tensei: Nocturne, Secret of Mana or classic FF......

I lost more faith in the gaming community i mean common FF10 seriously guys it was like vomit on toast but prettied up with good graphics.....

What I'm really surprised by is how any of you are surprised at the results of a popularity contest. "RPG fans" is nebulous in the first place. This is tangential to the People's Choice Awards.

While I agree with many of you on some things that were omitted. (Skies of Arcadia, Final Fantasy 6, Mother 2, Panzer Dragoon Saga, and let me add Lunar 1/2 - all should definitely be on this list) I must intervene and say that Final Fantasy X is likely one of my favorite RPGs I have ever played.

Yes. I'm not making this up. I'm not trolling.

I don't know what it is with gamers in the US but people just do not appreciate when RPGs are based around an extreme love story. The gameplay may not have been extremely innovative but it took the best of the past and converged it into one masterpiece. Sure it has good graphics and an excellent soundtrack but that doesn't automatically make it a 'sellout'. I'd like to know why all of you are so highly against it. "Vomit on toast"?? Come on. You guys have obviously never played games like Lunar: Dragon Song or Lagoon.

Oh I'd also like to add Terranigma to this list. That game is pure gold.

I remember them making that teaser video of a remake of ffvii, but it was just a video. If they ever needed money, even a half assed ffvii remake would sell millions.

People would either eat it up, or it would never be able to live up to the nostalgia facter of the original though.

Insipid characters, often awful voice acting (I will never, ever buy a game with a lead character like Tidus again), a convoluted storyline typical of Square-Enix (and RPGs as a whole, alas), and a humdrum series of fetch objectives with tedious interfaces masked as non-linear progression and diversity. I did enjoy the fast-paced nature of the combat and being able to switch characters quickly mid-combat, but the caveat was that the strategy involved was mundane and repetitive (also akin to most RPGs, alas). Oh, and blitzball.
